    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Roads and Maritime Services NSW full-time

    Pros

Opportunities to work on large scale budgets

    Cons

Lack of promotion from within the organisation. Promotions tend to give to contractors rather than existing staffs.
Lots of manual processes in finance where Central Finance team is not helpful in providing guidance and support.
Non-value adding roles in finance as time wasted on fixing system issues and running reports
Managers only go to meetings all day and not doing any real work.
Too much politics which deplete talent and career progression opportunity
Career progression is purely based on "who-you-know" in the organisation

    Advice to Management

Talk to your staff to understand their work
Engage staff at all levels, not just at manager and controller level
Promote career progression within the finance team

    Cons

Reluctance to implement change or act on decisions especially in election years meaning hard work and effort on projects went to waste esp if new leaders or management came in

    Advice to Management

    Listen to employees

I worked at Roads and Maritime Services NSW full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great friendly staff and managers, relaxed workplace, very easy to ask questions and get help, have the option to add 3 units to traineeship and get both cert III in communication and cert III in business.

    Cons

Computer and phone systems go down periodically, constantly sworn at by customers (which I found quite funny), not much help or time given for course paperwork.
