I worked at Saga Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The ability to earn a decent amount of commission was there, provided you were willing to work at the company for several years. For a job that required very little expertise, the earning potential is high.

    Cons

Stessful working environment, unsociable hours which are different every week, difficult to hit commission commission at higher levels which results in loss of all commission

    Pros

There are many pros of working for Saga. Mostly for me, it was meeting my team. Everyone clicks and gets along both inside and outside of work. There is support all around from colleagues and managers whenever you may need it

    Cons

The call volumes at times can be quite demanding so it's important to stay calm under pressure.

    Advice to Management

    Fix the air con

I worked at Saga Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits, health insurance, share incentive, nice people,

    Cons

Management, especially the leadership team have no idea of what is going on a ground level.

Customers are no longer the main focus since becoming a plc, it’s all about the profits which in turn is resulting in customers being lost sbd staff being made redundant, 300 plus in the last year.

Staff are not treated equally in terms of sick pay etc. Again this depends on your relationship with manager. Many managers are unable to separate friendships from work. Call centre can end up in HR for being late a few times, favourites in other teams can be late, not show up at all with no action taken.

There is very much a blame culture, middle management are scared to tell senior management what the position/issues are. Promotion/not getting made redundant is very much based on who you know/are in a relationship with! Half of some teams made redundant, the remaining half are expected to double their workload. Reason given for this was that staff levels increasing when customers are decreasing, it should not have taken so long to figure this out. To be told that this is what is going to happen from now on was insensitive. A lot of the really good senior management left last year, did they know something we didn’t?!

    Annual bonus almost non existent.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people that actually know what’s going on and take action, don’t pretend to listen because it’s good PR. Realise that people can only do so much. Treat employees equally.

I worked at Saga Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Progression - if you work hard
No weekend work in some roles

    Cons

    No loyalty to staff
Bonuses slashed with little or no warning
    Senior management lack of acknowledgement
A culture of who you know - the wrong people get promoted/chosen for senior roles

    Advice to Management

Respect your staff, do some proper work, don't just chat when your operations manager isn't around.
Treat staff like humans, not just numbers when it comes to "cost cutting"
Spend money on retaining staff, instead of new cruise ships

I worked at Saga Group full-time

    Pros

some people were fun to work with

    Cons

sagas way of treating the elderly through vicious sales practices is awful, and i remember being told off for not pushing for the sale when it was obvious that the caller didnt understand why she had called in the first place (i think she was unwell and picked up a leaflet through the door)
absolutely shocking pay structure. especially when the company makes so much money, the targets are impossible to reach consistently and the bonus is so small theres no point in trying
    poor to little career progression
    incredibly two-faced environment overall
