Pros

The people working here is what's special about this company.

Cons

Over the past 8 to 10 months, Scaleway has undergone a drastic and disheartening transformation. What was once a company with a positive atmosphere, remote work flexibility, and satisfied employees has now devolved into a grim situation. Following the introduction of the new CEO Damien Lucas and leadership direction, numerous key team members were ousted, accompanied by a distressing wave of "layoffs", disguised terminations, demotions, and even mental health-related absences. Gone are the days of enjoyable perks and team activities – they're now relics of a bygone era. The company's sole focus seems to be on profit generation, at the expense of employee well-being. This shift is evident in the lack of raises for most of us this year, despite the company's investments in new machinery. The new CEO and new Chief People Officer's blatant disregard for the importance of keeping employees content and motivated is apparent. As a result, the quality of our work has plummeted, and a considerable portion of our team is actively seeking an exit. The prevailing sentiment now centers around waiting for the company's downfall, which appears to be on the horizon, much to our anticipation. In summary, Scaleway's recent changes have bred an environment of misery, with a blatant prioritization of profit over employee satisfaction. The company's downward spiral is palpable, as talented employees seek refuge elsewhere, waiting for the impending downfall.

Pros

Interesting projects and top colleagues

Cons

The leadership has recently changed, and has become authoritarian (like our french government). The new CEO (Damien Lucas) hides behind fine words to convey a vision in which he does not believe (and cannot argue). We are sold buzzwords to get the company back on its feet (IA & co, we are not far from selling NFTs). The management changes the structure of the teams by blithely flouting the labor code. The CODIR saves its place and does nothing for the employees (at least nothing publicly). We are told that remoteworking is a luxury, and harmful for the future of the company, without really explaining why or how coming back to the site will improve things. Worse, office conditions make it difficult to work properly. Each person has its little advantages (an office for the CEO, places reserved for HR, etc.). To crown it all, the CEO, who has been there for 2 months, explains to us during an "all hands" session that if we are not aligned with the "strategy" of the company, we just have to leave (or get fired at some point). Nice for people who have been bleeding for the box for several years. In short, go your own way.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your experience at Scaleway. New leadership this year has brought a number of changes–in vision and in strategy and, as a result, in team and work organization. If you weren’t able to attend the CEO & CHRO’s “return to the office” Q&A sessions, you can check out the dedicated intranet space which gives all of the details (e.g. reasoning, FAQ, responses to all questions asked by employees, emailed communications, etc). You can also contact the HR team if you have any questions or need clarification. We have adapted our Paris offices to maximize space and comfort (e.g. additional call boxes, meeting rooms & workstations). These changes were made after collecting employee feedback from Q&A sessions held on the physical office reorganization. We’re committed to ensuring Scaleway is a great place to work. Thank you for helping us get there!

Pros

Des projets et défis passionnants à venir. Des collaborateurs brillants et exceptionnels.

Cons
