Pros

Beautiful offices and location, overlooking Huntington Harbor right on PCH. The management is very passionate about the company which can boost employee morale. Entire company is rewarded heavily at the end of the year with company parties, prizes, bonuses, free breakfast and lunch, as well as a very competitive karaoke contest! Benefits are great (health, dental, vision, 401k, etc).

Cons

There isn't any room for advancement in most departments, it looks like the management that currently holds the reigns isn't going anywhere until retirement. This kind of bleeds into employee reviews, which in my time there didn't happen once. While I don't expect a raise every year, I would like to get some feedback on how I'm doing. A lot of MAJOR decisions seem to be made on the fly instead of researched properly, the company seems to run on a 'NOW NOW NOW' mentality which ends up being costly in the end (in time and money). There is no cost analysis on projects, there are no project managers to keep communication running smoothly between departments. The sales team calls the shots, and when they want something, you deliver it, which at times causes half the company to scramble to create a new product (formulas, production costs, graphics, packaging, presentations, "Can we even make this if the the buyer wants it?" etc.) within a week. While Simple Green's original message was to be an environmentally friendly product and company, they have drifted from this vision. Witnessed an employee be bullied out of their position as they tried to implement more environmentally friendly standards (recycling, compost, standard stuff) within the home offices. It seems as if they've lost their moral compass (if it was ever there to begin with). If you go against the grain and try to change things (regardless if it's better, more cost-saving, more efficient, etc) chances are you will fall out of favor. Sunshine Makers Inc has been running a very specific way for a very long time and they don't take highly to change. To be fair, there are a select few managers that really try to make things better. While one would expect a sort of Seventh Generation/Method type of environment (culturally diverse), Simple Green doesn't even remotely fit that mold. They are a very stereotypical conservative Orange County company with not a whole lot of cultural diversity.

You get out of the company what you put into it.

Pros

Smaller, entrepreneurial company where employees can often advance through hard work and determination. Work environment is terrific, products are terrific, compensation and benefits are well above average. Corporate culture is still a little old-school, but ultimately fair and balanced. In a smaller company like this one, you tend not to get overlooked unless you want to be overlooked.

Cons

Doesn't operate like a large corporation (which can also be viewed as a Pro in certain circumstances.) If you need a long corporate ladder to climb, this is not the place. Advancement sometimes comes just in a salary bump, and advancement in rank takes longer. Not a lot of open slots at the top.
