I have been working at Slater & Gordon UK full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - good for gaining legal experience and development of career - excellent with IT and any technical problems when need to be solved - Does take client care as an important value. - Good social events to keep teams connected - friendly and approachable staff

    Cons

    - limited opportunities for progression and growth. - as opposed to other firms at the same level, the pay is significantly less. - Support staff, paralegal and Trainee Pay and growth opportunities not enough. - Treatment towards support staff makes them want to quit and also demotivates them to continue with a career in law do to the demanding nature of the seniors in the firm. - Needs to improve pay and also increase holidays for those on new contracts.

    Pros

Fantastic office full of great people that the senior management through lies and changing of the goalposts destroyed beyond repair.

    Cons

Terrible senior management who lie in the face of their staff saying that everything was “ok” when it clearly was anything but that.

I worked at Slater & Gordon UK full-time

    Pros

Some of the staff are nice.

    Cons

So many cons to working at this business, lack of leadership and targets we nobody can hit. The business is run by ex accountants and is not a law firm, most of the decent staff have left the business. Junior staff promoted above the capability. I could actually go on all day. I really do not understand how this business has any positive reviews from staff.

I worked at Slater & Gordon UK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are some shining diamonds in the midst of all the toxicness.

    Cons

Have a horrible, bullying way of managing people. They have continued to employ 'leaders' who just want to make themselves look good and do not care for their colleague community, clients or so called recently launched 'values'. It is all window-dressing. Communications are reguarly sent to tick a box, yet the senior leadership team are oblivious to what goes on underneath their levels. If you are willing to say 'yes' to your 'Head of' when you know it is the wrong thing to do, for clients, colleagues are commerciality, then you'll be fine there. If you want a business that promotes ideas, challenge, transparency and co-creation that it is strongly recommended to go elsewhere.

I have been working at Slater & Gordon UK full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    None that are readily apparent

    Cons

I work for Overland Health which is a sister company that forms part of the Slater Gordon group and has been for nearly 6 years. Our company was treated as an afterthought since pretty much day 1 due to being located in Malta. We were forced to operate with bare bones staffing levels, for subhuman wages, all while other divisions in the Group added Heads of department left and right, and made up phony management positions to reward incompetent staff. All the while Overland Health remained its top performing and consistently most profitable part of Group year after year. Well just this week we were given the delightful news, smack bang in the middle of a global pandemic, that Group have taken the decision to close down Overland Health. Not because of losses due to to lock downs or other COVID related issues. No they are closing Overland Health because they found themselves a more profitable arrangement with a different rehabilitation provider. To make matters worse, nobody from Group level even had the courage to face us and give us the news themselves. We were told by our general manager, who himself is now out of employment, over a video conference call. So now 30+ loyal employees who have put up with Group's politics, neglect, and disrespect, some who have worked for Overland for over 10 years, will now find themselves unemployed in a world which is on the verge of a global recession. All because some fat cats at Group found a way to add a few extra £££s to their bank accounts. Thanks for nothing Slater Gordon.

I have been working at Slater & Gordon UK full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Having returned to the company a few years ago after a stint elsewhere, I'm very glad I did! In the recent time of crisis for the whole country, Slater & Gordon have really proved their worth as a great company to work for. Week one of lockdown the vast majority of employees were able to set up and work from home, a great relief and reassuring in terms of job security. Forward thinking decisions around technology by the Management are really paying off now, and their genuine care and concern for staff and their wellbeing is shining through. Well done S&G!

    Cons

There have been ups and downs well documented in the press, but from the inside I can honestly say the organisation has come through everything and has a lot of drive. Slater & Gordon is strong and only getting stronger!
