I worked at Sleep Country Canada full-time

    Pros

    - Used to be a good company to work with - with a community feel, and opportunities for growth.
    - good benefits

    Cons

    - Underpaid, overworked
    - Company fired a bunch of people (including top management) and expected the remaining employees to compensate. Top talent ran for the hills as soon as this happened

I worked at Sleep Country Canada full-time

    Pros

    - OK Benefits
    - New Office
    - Compensation is VERY LOW compared to the market
    - Great place to start off your career but not a long-term job

    Cons

    - Management is selfish
    - They only care about managerial and senior positions - anything below that, they treat you like a number
    - No room for growth
    - High turnover rate

    Advice to Management

    - Put effort into ALL of your employees and not only the managerial level
    - Increase compensation

I have been working at Sleep Country Canada full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great potential for income, write your own schedule in most cases. Lots of downtime. Good benefits and RRSP/DPSP.

    Cons

Long hours and mandatory weekends. Also you can be moved to any store within a region at a days notice. You may even work alone for extended periods, although that can be a plus for some people I suppose.

    Advice to Management

Resolve the massive conflict of interest that area managers have when dealing with associates. Direct managers are given extra power, which is fine until it is wielded by people with high self interest and greed. This causes a great amount of dissent among your front line folks who just want to earn a living stress free. Managers have too much power and not a lot of leadership education, it is a systemic problem, but there is always a chance things can change.

    Pros

Decent company unless you fall prey to a bully. Managers only share information with other managers so there’s no recourse if you do. Money can be good if you are good at sales.

    Cons

Unfortunately, there’s nepotism and the bad behaviour and bullying of some are covered up by otherwise good people. If you go against the grain, you risk losing your job. Long hours and working all weekends as a sales associate takes your life away.

    Advice to Management

They wouldn’t care to take advice.
