    Pros

    Staff were lovely (but it's a huge company so can depend where you work). Supervisors were quick to identify and fix problems. I enjoyed coming in to work there every day and was sad to leave.

    Cons

    Not really a con but pay seems to be in line with the market rate (which is low) although this varies significantly depending upon your roles and qualification.

    I have been working at Sonic Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Autonomy. Flexibility. Best service and resources in pathology sector.
    A huge number of passionate and skilled workers.
    Pathologists working for the company are world class and respected by medical community.
    Majority of services provided in the state rather than being sent interstate.

    Cons

    Disorganised - so many plans that never come to fruition.
    Fear culture - most departments live in fear of their jobs.
    Discrimination - huge disparity in pay for doing the same job. If you are not a white heterosexual male you will not be equal.
    Intimidation by management - no direction or accountability, unless they want to shift blame onto the worker.
    Colleagues commonly disappear overnight without explanation.
    Employees expected to turn a blind eye to unethical behaviour.
    HR purely exists to protect management, not the employee.
    No development or training.
    Promotions based on who has been there the longest, not on skill.
    Those who suggest improvements are viewed as troublemakers.

    Advice to Management

    Promote and hire people based on skill rather than nepotism.
    Value employees and give positive reinforcement.
    Racism and sexism are not ok.

    I have been working at Sonic Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    They pay on time. That's all one can say as pros on this place. Now just trying to have the twenty words to be able to submit.

    Cons

    Bullying is common practice and HR does nothing there. No transparency or integrity from management, only self serving people protecting themselves and their position with help from long term employees. Vast majority of management only got there because have been Long enough working there. Lots of favouritism as opposed to performance appraisal. Text book toxic environment.

    Advice to Management

    Maybe just start by implementing good practices in HR and educating managers starting from the very top. Live your written values, don't just let them be empty words. Don't get mad at those who resign and start tainting them to their colleagues, it just shows lack of integrity.

    Work in small teams where relationships built
    Flexible work arrangement with a con (see below)

    Cons

    "quality is our DNA" yet are willing to save costs by proceeding with cheap technologies.
    no future planning or development into future test/technologies
    zero development.
    disconnect with management.
    flexible work arrangement only IF it suits department (annual leave rejected)
    bullying into doing increased work loads.
    Management hire unqualified staff to reduce department costs which reduces productivity.
    Reduced xmas partying funding (no partners, changes in location etc)
    Getting a pay review is similar to climbing Everest.
    Toxic employees are moved from department to department as opposed to firing.
    No real benefits besides 11% discounted healthcare and parking at site.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your skilled staffed apporiately
    retrain management increase productivity
    Team leaders/supervisors should be paid adequately

    Other than salary there was nothing positive about this company

    Cons

    Discrimination
    severe bullying by manager and co-workers
    occasional unpaid work
    Nor friendly to staff from ethnic background
    poor management

    Advice to Management

    Please, educate your managers about bullying, racism and discrimination
    establish proper training program for new staff
