I worked at Squiz full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - OK facilities in Melbourne - Decent tech team - Almost unlimited marketing/PR budget

    Cons

    - Massive staff turnover, you literally speak to someone in the morning and they will be gone that afternoon. - High workloads to meet unrealistic deadlines mean high stress levels among teams - Poor people skills at senior management & HR levels - Less than competitive salary for most roles

    I worked at Squiz

    Pros

    - skilled technical staff - pool table (but no time) - beers & biscuits

    Cons

    - poor management, lack of skills in people management. - management is simply sales, sales and sales - production management team experience in textile, air-force and musician (no IT knowledge or experience and don't understand technical) - high rate of staff turnover and termination due to lack of knowledge - office env is crap, you never know when a drink or dirts will drop from upstairs office

I have been working at Squiz full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Skilled people that are good to work with. Good experience. Learning from bad management and business practises.

    Cons

VERY sales focused organisation. You feel more like a 'contractor' as apposed to a valued employee/team member. High staff turnover.

I worked at Squiz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good social life and great people Good selection of clients Stepping stone company

    Cons

I think what I am about to say is going to echo what everyone else has said about Squiz (apart from the good reviews written by their HR): - Very poor management - No honesty - A lot of manipulation and favouritism - No flexibility (very rigid unless you're the management's favourite and hard work does not guarantee that position) - A lot of unnecessary internal bureaucracy - No real career opportunities (titles are given out right left and centre just to keep staff in but don't mean anything) - Not much real care for staff - Extremely high staff turnover (a lot of longer serving staff have already left and new staff don't stay much longer than 12 months) - Poor benefits - No clear vision - A lot of talking about making things right and no action

    Negative Outlook

    I worked at Squiz

    Pros

Non management staff gel reasonably well and there is a good social atmosphere at work Although benefits are poor if you prove yourself (say 12 months) they are happy to throw cash and job titles at you to stay Office facilities are good, ping pong table, break-out areas and a well staffed kitchen Good work/life balance (but you have to be disciplined)

    Cons

Not moving fast enough for a tech company, internal tech systems are a joke Poor management - just a lot of BS management talk, no real leader to guide the business, personal relationships between senior management also add to an air of unprofessionalism and some nepotism High staff turnover mostly related to the two items listed above Many clients are definitely over serviced to the point unnecessary stress is put on staff to deliver Doesn't really have that cool tech company vibe, you wouldn't think this business is 10 years old

I worked at Squiz full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The technology is strong and competitive, driven by a capable R&D department Mid management is capable and focused, with hands-on working experience Good office culture, great to work as part of a team Good client base and exciting technical projects

    Cons

Sales-driven company, often compromising project outputs to the detriment of clients Over-promising and under-delivering on client projects Senior management is confused and often inappropriate Technical staff often overworked but unappreciated Senior management practices result in quite high staff turnover
