I worked at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the best brands under one roof. Well known names in the business.

    Cons

The merger was a bit of a struggle, not the mom and pop Stanley Proto Feel any longer. But two great well known name brands under one title. One stop shop for all tool users.

I have been working at Stanley Black & Decker for more than 8 years

    Pros

In my time here I have worked with a lot of good and competent managers. There is not a lot of external pressure put on you but I have not typically had down sales year either.

    Cons

You always wish the pay was better and there is constant change. When things change things it is not always a smooth transition

I worked at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great opportunity to work with legacy brands on a global scale across multiple industries. If you work in marketing, engineering or product mgmt you have the ability to grow your skill sets as long as you're assigned to the right programs. Plus SBD is a great resume builder.

    Cons

SBD can only maintain its growth rate through M&A by leveraging new companies for efficiencies or stripping them for cost. It's a house of cards that occasionally crashes resulting in regular layoffs to temporarily meet goals. Be prepared to never feel secure unless you're well connected. Developing and marketing products is an afterthought for corporate and the limited resources and comical leadership reflect this focus. To keep your job you'll have to learn to navigate internal politics, deal with a Sr.. Mgmt. (CDIY group) that is inept with insane egos lead by a childish bully. ( Planned to be belittled and cursed at in large meetings to establish dominance) all the while avoiding being marked for the next layoff.

I worked at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Decent pay. Large company so great benefits. Room to move up due to sheer size of the company. Iconic brands. Large network of employees. Recognizable company. Had a good training process and identified individuals who could move on to other positions.

    Cons

Bleeds the company dry by firing employees when not meeting their financial goals. Does not value the employee. Does not hold management to high standards...very little accountability. They have a history of buying other companies and ruining the culture.
