I have been working at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People are hard-working, collaborative and all-around fantastic. Lots of opportunity to take on different roles and experiences. Good promote-from-within culture.

    Cons

Not known for the most competitive salary (compared to other Consumer Product companies). Other benefits are on par with what you'd find elsewhere, but not impressive.

I worked at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Overall, my time with Stanley Black & Decker as both a Sales Coordinator and Market Manager was good! The program gives young professionals the opportunity to develop and grow with the guidance of management. In addition, the workload and responsibilities are slowly rolled out as a Sales Coordinator throughout the course of a year making it easier to adapt to a new role.

    Cons

In most recent years the company has scaled back their workforce, putting more pressure on the sales team and expanding the roles beyond what was in the job description. Do not take the relocation lump sum allotted unless you are more than positive you will commit two years to the company in each role.

I have been working at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

GLOBAL LEVEL: . Interesting salary (despite profit-sharing decrease) LOCAL / NATIONAL LEVEL (France - Lyon): . Good company, well-structured organization with friendly environment

    Cons

GLOBAL LEVEL: . Short-term vision: shareholders’ interests first. “We are a fast-moving company / organization” => Definitely not, you’re ultra-conservative with zero long-term vision . Individualism: no matter if you go against your colleagues’ or even the company’s interest as soon as you can take advantage of it (launching a project that will crash in 2 years is not a problem as soon as it gives you high visibility right now to get a promotion before everything collapses, no one will hold it against you) . Anti-meritocratic organization where cooptation is key . Cultural vacuum (just some funny examples during work discussions to set projects “Is Benelux an European country?” / “How many languages do you speak across Europe? Three? English, French and Spanish?”) LOCAL / NATIONAL LEVEL (France - Lyon): . Working in a tool company, do not expect being challenged by expert profiles, in particular in everything related to marketing. High-caliber marketing professionals do not dream to work in a tool company (this is not only worth for the local / national level) I resigned after 3 years.

I have been working at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good company to work for in Europe or US, certain businesses harp on innovation

    Cons

Outside of europe and US , sad company, Need to have god fathers to grow or some times even survive. Extremely fragile operation which can't withstand even a quarter of negative performance without rolling of heads, overall the company talks only about shareholder expectations, but they fail to understand that it is their customers who they need to attend to, everything else such as , Sales, Profits, ,Employee satisfaction will fall into place which will ultimately result in share holder value creation, some how they seem to bit smitten by the share holder bug.

I worked at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits and salary. Some interesting and qualified people to work with.

    Cons

Politics are extreme. The management is insecure of great performing and high qualified people. The HR will turn a blind eye despite knowing all this. When the going gets tough start firing people left right and center.

I worked at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great brands and products and strong company growth! Excellent company longevity with all the acquisitions. Well known and the company supports great causes like Habitat for Humanity and Make a Wish.

    Cons

Management is horrible! No communication nor direction. Plus no on boarding for new people. If you don't perform you are out. If you're not part of the in crowd you will be replaced by someone younger.
