I worked at Stanley Black & Decker full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Experience - You’re given a lot of responsibility if you want it. Brands - Well recognized names (DEWALT, Craftsman, Black+Decker).

    Cons

8 lay-offs in 3 years. Almost entirely focused on margin enhancement, which is crushing the business. Disconnected leaders in Connecticut who don’t understand the products, brands, customers and end users. Compensation is not competitive if you grow up through the organization. Less promote from within. More and more leaders are coming from the outside, but don’t understand the brands. Shows they aren’t investing in developing people that they can promote.
