I have been working at Suncorp Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great work-life balance that is supported at all levels in the company. Lots of different areas to work in from personal to commercial insurance, banking, life insurance and corporate functions

    Cons

Your immediate manager (or one level up) will have a great degree of influence over your time there, so a bad one can really hold up progression

    Advice to Management

Take a moment to think about the change you are considering and determine if it is really in the best interests of customers, people and the company - there is a culture of change first, think later

I have been working at Suncorp Group

    Pros

    1. Flexible working hours and ability to work from home up to 2 days per week. 2. Friendly work colleagues 3. Pays higher daily rate compared to some of the big banks. 4. Recommended if you are just interested in a well pay job with flexibility but nothing more.

    Cons

    1. Much smaller than the big four banks, so expect to perform more than just your PM role e.g PMO analyst, Implementation & Tech Lead and Scrum Master roles. 2. Not the right fit if you are looking for career growth & progression. Only Delivery Manager & Portfolio Managers roles exist as the next step upwards. 3. Little support & mentoring provided to new starters. More of a 'swim or sink' approach.... 4. Project Management disciplines and best practices lacking. 5. High staff turnover. 6. Be prepared to manage two projects at once as it's rare for a PM to be allocated full time to just one project. 7. Projects are smaller in budget size compared to big banks. A 500K project is considered a very large project. 8. Some level of micro management exist, depending on the type of project you are allocated too. 9. Not using Agile/ Scrum the right way. Best practices not being used.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the setup of project management, testing, environments and release management practices within TDL. Invest more time into standarising & governance. Invest in bring on Agile Coaches / Scrum Masters onto projects for a short period of time. Invest in putting together an induction pack for new starters as this would be more efficient and a cost savings.

    Pros

Great work-life balance. They provide you opportunity to work flexibly and from home. Good team work and supportive environment. Lots of development opportunity for training and networking within the industry.
