Cons

Some favoritism creeping in, there's a clear "in-group" forming around the Synthesis podcast/media crowd. Despite claims of external verification, salary packages does not keep up with market or cost of living increases at intermediate and senior bands. No overtime paid despite many people burning out, logging 220 and even beyond 300 hours in a month. No benefits e.g. medical, retirement etc. makes low salary hard to justify.

Extremely weak leadership, both within Synthesis and the larger Group that is listed on the JSE. All the Directors are disinterested in the business now, too busy focusing on their own wealth, and relocating overseas for personal convenience and not for the benefit of the business. As a result the whole company is becoming complacent and lazy. No incentives for staff.

It really was sad to see the CTOs dream fall apart at the hands of people that manipulate him.

I really enjoyed my time with the CTO, he was a respectable man that wanted the best for everyone. I had a lot of respect for him, as he was someone that generally cared. It saddens me to think his vision of synthesis and what is actually going on behind the scenes is hidden from him through manipulation by upper management.

Cons

There is a clique culture, that sees to it, that a fit in or eff off culture was created, through politics and agendas, if you don't fit in, you are slandered with false accusations and here-say. My advice to any new employee at synthesis, keep quiet and obey your new managerial overlords and their favorite minions, or fear the wrath of being cast aside and forgotten.
