I have been working at Telstra part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I work at a company owned store and find the team dynamics great. Everyone is very friendly and supportive and it really makes the job, despite often confronted with difficult scenarios.

    Cons

As one can expect, working in a Telstra store means dealing with angry customers and being able to manage conflict. It can sometimes get stressful/tiring.

I have been working at Telstra part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Staff discount and good work life balance when management is understanding

    Cons

Goalposts shift weekly Right hand doesn't know what left hand is doing Conflicting information even within internal websites New policies and new plans are implemented and not announced Too many promotions based on favours and personal dealings and not based on skills, knowledge or experience Never good enough for higher management Lack of recognition or incentives

    Advice to Management

Look after your staff.... not your own pockets

I worked at Telstra full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Has good going training courses and measures put in place however management struggle to fulfil it. Has good perks. Lots of different roles you 'can' move into.

    Cons

When put through any development it can be like winning the lottery to move anywhere if there's no experience under your belt. Telstra prefer you to leave gain experience elsewhere and then come back or stay 'acting' for a few years. Lots of Politics and everyone is in it for themselves due to cutting costs with staff and exhausting staff members to work in overdrive constantly especially in Retail.

    Advice to Management

Care for your staff more then the customers and then the staff will fulfil the rest to gain higher NPS. Happy staff = happy customers.

I worked at Telstra part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great team ethics, great atmosphere and staff support is really great. Commission is fantastic and a great range of services to help you get sales.

    Cons

I don't feel that there was enough training, especially considering the amount of different services and plans you are expected to know inside out. It comes down to miscommunications I feel.

    Advice to Management

They need to create a better, more organised and realistic training schedule for new staff. The team environment is fantastic, although there needs to be more attention paid onto products and services training for sure.

I have been working at Telstra for more than 3 years

    Pros

Relatively stable job, flexible working hours, renumeration is above industry average, working for a brand that I believe in.

    Cons

In retail customer service, the clientele is rude and treats you like you're scum for working for the company. People don't really take their job seriously and there is too much micromanagement.

    Advice to Management

No more micromanagement - we're all adults, please don't make us beg for toilet/lunch breaks.
