    The CBORD Group Response

    January 13, 2020VP HR

The Senior Leadership Team encourages employees at all levels to reach out, ask questions, make suggestions and bring fresh perspectives. Managers communicate and give feedback in different ways; at times employees may need closer supervision and coaching; open communication and transparency are cornerstones of the DREAMculutre.

    Pros

    - Great Co-workers - Easy to learn products - Okay Culture

    Cons

Pretty much everything else is a con. The company doesn't care about you, especially when you work support. You are a pawn in their game of chess. Management doesn't help you succeed in your position, or allow you to grow. Micromanagement becomes very high on the list, even if you already push yourself for 8 hours a day. They expect you to work more than 8 hours due to the lack of technicians and experience. HR will chime in and mention how none of this is true and that this company is great to work for and be a cheerleader, but the fact of the matter is, its not a good company to work for. CEO only cares about money, not employees, and that trickles down the chain to managers who treat you like slaves. They would also rather hire new techs who do not know the product at a higher wage than someone that has been within the company for more than 5+ years.

    The CBORD Group Response

    December 16, 2019VP HR

The Company does value work-life balance and respects employees' time; at times there is need to go above and beyond in order to deliver responsive customer service, this is true of all employees in all departments. Management and Senior Leaders value and support Career Development and it is each team member's choice and opportunity to work with his/her manager to develop, learn, and grow. Transparency and communication are also valued and every team member can voice opinions and make suggestions to improve teams and processes.

    Pros

Lots of room for advancement if you're already well established financially and willing to sacrifice all of your energy for this company.

    Cons

Management is struggling to keep up with the changes made by the new CEO. Very demanding workplace with little to no resources that are needed to perform duties of work required. Micromanagement + " Dream Culture" = toxic work environment. Be prepared to ignore signs of burnout in your coworkers if you want to succeed.

    The CBORD Group Response

    November 5, 2019VP HR

Challenges and changes are part of every work culture and not all individuals are a good fit for the demands of the job. Managers work very diligently to coach and train new team members so that they can be successful and productive and feel a part of the culture. Monthly one-on-one check ins are conducted to ensure that team members have the tools and resources, and the support they need to succeed.

It is good to hear from a long-term team member. The company truly values feedback from positive, skilled employees who are motivated to improve and want the business to continue to succeed.

    Pros

Having a job anywhere is a "pro" but I suppose I could add, there is free coffee. Lack of strict dress code is nice.

    Cons

Bosses fail to adhere to their own policies. Same bosses are constantly looking for fault in others. There is no reward for a job well done. Ever.

    The CBORD Group Response

    November 15, 2017VP HR

CBORD is a progressive work place and work environment; relaxed dress codes, free coffee, catered lunch events and fun social activities are part of the total package offered to employees. CBORD holds employees accountable for delivering the best customer experience and work product but also rewards them for mindful, dynamic innovation.

I worked at The CBORD Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you are looking to gain exposure and experience working with virtual servers, Sybase, Oracle and more related technologies this is a good starting point. There are some great customers to work with and you sometimes look forward to seeing them put in a case for support. There are a lot of great, hard-working people in the support portion of this company who can offer a lot of help and knowledge. I found plenty of willingness to help from other teams within the company that I felt recognized the work ethic and effort that was put forth by employees. Work and life balance is pretty good from my experience. Managers can be very flexible and understanding for time off when needed.

    Cons

Pay is below the industry standard by a decent margin. Raises seem to be equally low. Little to no training for new techs. Support seems to be a pigeonhole which does not leave many opportunities to move up in the company. Management can be slow on the uptake to notice the work of their support associates leaving a level of job dissatisfaction. There are small elements within the company that are good at playing the game of office politics while not really offering any real contributions to their teams or the company itself which can have some very negative impacts. The metrics system is a bit of a joke as you are rated based on how many calls you make, notes you take and cases you closes. It seems to be a numbers game with competitions among the teams to compete based on those metrics. It makes it a struggle to stand out and enjoy your job if your team is understaffed or you have team members who simply cannot carry their weight. No programs in place to help further the skill sets of employees.

Excellent culture - worker bees are great. Love the collaboration and interest people have for each other - especially in the Support area.

    Cons

It takes SO LONG to get decisions made when upper management is involved. The impact on day to day work can be detrimental.

Good coworkers and customers. Almost impossible to get fired. Ithaca is an awesome town although the cost of living is high.

    Cons

Mediocre pay, especially for the Ithaca area. too many middle managers. Terrible training. They think they provide world class support but treat those associates like they are disposable. Did I mention the pay?

I have been working at The CBORD Group full-time

    Pros

-- Most positions are living-wage. -- Will hire people without degrees, even if the Job Requirements may demand so. The company values job experience. -- Growing company with many possibilities for advancement. -- Many positions allow for frequent travel, should you wish to do so. -- Genuine effort is made to provide good benefits (though it could be better). -- Growth and Job experience is second to none. A job here will put you in position to advance in the company or seek advance employment elsewhere. -- Reasonable office hours. -- Main office is located in a business park which has an adjacent pond. Walks around the business park campus can be de-stressing.

    Cons

-- Office politics can adversely affect evaluations. -- Company was once privately owned. Since acquisition by a larger public corporation, the company is slowly losing some of it's once-excellent culture. -- Company has cut back on opportunities to work from home or remotely (especially in support positions). The quest to increase productivity unfortunately hurts morale. -- Base pay is below that of similar companies with comparable positions.
