I worked at The CBORD Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

A few departments have hard-working people (at least those who have survived the layoffs over the last year). However, everyone is looking to jump from this sinking ship, so the good ones are leaving.

    Cons

It is very apparent that upper management is planting positive reviews on here for prospective employees (and perhaps potential buyers). Anything with a rating higher than 2 stars, most likely has been planted by upper management. For example, we had a company meeting not that long ago (August 2017) where an employee brought up "How are we going to get decent employee prospects to come here, with such terrible... reviews on places such as Glassdoor.com?" HR took the question and gave a canned spiel and then the very next day, there was a review posted on glassdoor.com (see Aug 2, 2017, titled "Seriously, it's a fine place to work"), that reiterates what HR said to us at the company meeting. Such a joke - who are they fooling? This company is circling the drain.

    Advice to Management

Why waste my breathe...they have a "plan" (which they say is transparent, but it's anything but) and don't want to hear what anyone else thinks. So instead of advice to Management, my advice is to the current and future employees: look elsewhere!

I worked at The CBORD Group full-time

    Pros

    Excellent manager until he retired.

    Cons

Worked for CBORD for about 10 years and company closed satellite office without giving employees severance package. Upper management only wants to see numbers and don't care about the employees.

    Advice to Management

No comments since management doesn't care.

I worked at The CBORD Group full-time

    Pros

They have a great benefit package

    Cons

Completely disorganized. New upper management, new merger. Letting people go left and right. Reviews are biased and uninformed. Training is ridiculously lacking.

I have been working at The CBORD Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The office where I work may be different than the other offices, so keep that in mind, but I am allowed to do my job in peace with little harassment, good PTO schedule, OCCASIONALLY get free food. Most other co-workers are a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

The place seems to be self destructing from the inside, the upper management is shady, and dishonest, and everything that goes with that. There really seems to be no direction, or plan for anything beyond sell, sell, sell, whatever the cost. Many products are buggy but get released anyway because of the bottom line. They also pay well below average for the same jobs at other places.

    Advice to Management

Get it together! Also note to readers, Max is no longer the pres, it is a new dancing monkey these days.

I worked at The CBORD Group full-time

    Pros

The immediate team I worked with was excellent - career CBORDians that were excellent teammates.

    Cons

Upper Management - mainly starting with the culture perpetuated by former President Max Steinhardt, and getting progressively worse under new President Jim Hoefflin, have long made it abundantly clear that they DO NOT value people as a company - they feel that you need them more than they need you and it shows in many of the decisions that have been made over the last several years. There are some holdouts that... still care about people as more than a spreadsheet, but unfortunately they are not in upper management. The people-first, positive, fun culture started by John Alexander (the founder) is long gone. It has been replaced with a culture of uncertainty and fear of when the hammer is going to drop next. Everyone is miserable almost down to the person because they are being overworked (being asked to do a LOT more with less) and woefully underpaid and under appreciated. In fact, I feel horrible for those who are still there under this regime.......I wish they would realize that there is in fact life after CBORD - and there are so many other companies that actually treat their people like valued assets vs. an easily dispensable commodity. Upper management claims an open door policy, but do nothing to act on feedback provided by those who are actually in the trenches despite being told the same thing over and over again....it's like talking to a wall.

    Advice to Management

You (Jim) are creating an incredibly toxic culture - wake up and realize what you have in your people and what they contribute to the success of the company before it's too late. In your hiring announcement, you claimed.....“I’m excited to join the CBORD team and look forward to carrying forward a culture committed to creating, delivering, and supporting the best customer experience in the world for our customers... and employees." Time to put your money where your mouth is and ACT LIKE IT......your actions to date have completely betrayed your words.

I have been working at The CBORD Group

    Pros

Excellent culture - worker bees are great. Love the collaboration and interest people have for each other - especially in the Support area.

    Cons

It takes SO LONG to get decisions made when upper management is involved. The impact on day to day work can be detrimental.

    Advice to Management

Streamline your decision making process - and get things like position requisitions approved or denied in a more timely fashion.

I have been working at The CBORD Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The scenery in the park is nice.

    Cons

Absolutely everything. From upper management to middle management. No respect for employees, they treat everyone with the same "you are replaceable" attitude. President has his head so far in the clouds he hasn't a clue what is going on. Human Resources is so untrustworthy, benefits hasn't a clue what they are doing, insurance constantly changes and increases. Raises are minimal, barely cover insurance hikes.... Employees are mostly bitter and resentful. Very juvenile in many departments. Accounting is a nightmare, it's like a horrible junior high soap opera, scary to think they deal with auditors!

I have been working at The CBORD Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Stable job outlook, never laid anyone off or suspended operations - Products you can get behind - Great colleagues to work with

    Cons

    - Below average employee compensation package including salary, health care, and 401K plan - Upper management seems disconnected from staff - Poor internal employee resources - No continuing education program

    Advice to Management

    - Develop a compensation program that is comparable to other companies in a similar industry - Promote employee growth and development with a continuing education program - Rather than only rewarding employees with words of encouragement, tie compensation adjustments to reviews and performance

I have been working at The CBORD Group

    Pros

The customers are really great. The company does have interesting and innovative products, would love to be proud of them. If you are in sales, this is a great company to look at.

    Cons

The pay is beyond terrible and the "raises" are minimal (2%) to non-existent (i.e., YEARS). Terrible insurance plan, high premium and high out of pocket. I don't know how someone could afford a family plan with the ridiculous pay rates. The management in this company is insane. Waaaaaay too many "managers." "Teams" of 1 to 4 people have a manager who winds up micro managing and throwing their "team" under the bus to... save themselves (way to be!). Forget voicing an opinion, your point is moot unless you are in Sales or Upper Management. CBORD also seems to have a no-fire policy. It doesn't matter if you are completely incompetent (which is about half of the staff), or go around swearing at your coworkers you will have job security here. Turnover rate is terrible, any new hire with half a brain is finds new employment within 6 months. Also seeing lots of long term employees throw in the towel. I would only recommend this company to masochists who enjoying being surrounded by negative energy and angry coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Give out raises (reasonable one). Hire talented people that actually seen a computer before. Do something to boost the moral of this company so all the "grunt' workers don't feel like they are walking the green mile to work everyday.

I have been working at The CBORD Group

    Pros

Flexible with your family life. If you need to leave early, generally the work really well with you. Most of the people are really great to work with. When things are great here, they're really great

    Cons

When things are bad here...they're really bad. The benefits package is terrible. The employee has to pay a very high percentage of the health insurance, plus high deductibles and co-insurance. Upper management does not spread work evenly on departments.

    Advice to Management

Stop making everything about revenue. The art of customer service has been lost. Morale is not good, put some focus on making your employees happier instead of ignoring the situation.
