I have been working at The Hershey Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Strong exposure to international markets and people of varying cultures and ways of working. - Ripe with opportunities for professional and personal growth within your existing role. Unlike bigger companies where you're "pigeonholed" to specialize in a particular field alone, Hershey has opportunities to learn the business outside your BU's perspective. - Higher business impact compared to more traditional organizations - Has an apolitical culture where junior employees can feel comfortable speaking with top management. - Great work life balance and flexible working hours. - For my BU, everyone is highly supportive and listens to your recommendations and concerns.

    Cons

    - Limited vertical growth opportunities since the company is lean. If you're title conscious the company is NOT for you but if you value actual experience, exposure to other BU workstream, expanding your entrepreneurial mindset, and understanding how the entire business operates outside of your role this company can offer that which bigger FMCG companies cannot. - Limited manpower means ambiguity in the role is present and practicing extreme ownership is a norm. - Limited resources might limit the extent of implementing innovative solutions (e.g. automation, market research etc.) - Highly dynamic and ever changing work environment would require you to adapt a high level of agility and resiliency to challenging situations. Its not a job where you can just "time in and out", you need to evolve your knowledge beyond your scope so if your role changes you can more easily adapt.

I worked at The Hershey Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great work life balance - office is a ghost town after 4 pm. You’ll be surrounded by characters from Dunder Mifflin.

    Cons

Takes forever(5 years or more) to get promoted. Very bureaucratic. External consultants are valued more than your own people. Information systems is a support organisation, drives no real value for the business. HR team doesn’t know how to file a visa. ZERO diversity. And oh - there is a re-org every 3 years because the leadership has no other real work to do.
