I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific

    Pros

I've been with the company 16 months and, reading some of the other reviews, I can see that the company has shifted its focus on internal development significantly. I have taken part in five different training courses and know that my manager has identified others for me to complete over the next 12 months. The company has definitely moved away from the previous model of no internal progression and some staff development to a focus on developing staff and providing training in a number of areas across the business. There also seems to be lots of people moving internally and progressing in their careers, which is really good to see.

    Cons

The work is challenging and can be frustrating. I've found developing a strong internal network has really helped me to navigate the business better. The business is very matrixed and complex. Previously the different divisions seem to have been very siloed, but I think the push for more collaboration is making a big difference - there's still a way to go though. We use lots of different systems in different parts of the business and some of them can be very challenging and frustrating. I do put in long hours (my choice) due to the workload

I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time

    Pros

The company is fast-paced, interesting clients and interesting trials. Company keeps its employees in the loop from what the clients will be trying to use their treatments for to make your job relatable. Company gives good bonuses.

    Cons

Very understaffed. Long hours and if your salary, you may be taking a pay cut. Many people work weekends too. I’d rather have a smaller bonus instead of always working to catch up and always feeling like I’ll never be able to work enough hours in a day to get close to getting it all done. I don’t like dreading and not enjoying PTO days because I’ll be so behind when I go back. No redundancy in task executors. The benefits could be better for a large company. Cigna health that is quite expensive. PTO is standard 21 days to start and isn’t really negotiable, even if you have 20 years experience.
