I worked at Ulta Beauty part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Discount on salon services, *very few* gratis (free product), mostly fun/eccentric/talented coworkers

    Cons

Managers take all the gratis or give it all to their favorites that don’t even work in the beauty departments! Never ending list of things to do, no accountability for staff who suck or don’t do their job and have to clock out quick for payroll.

    Pros

Ulta beauty takes the culture of each and every store into account when making decisions at a company, regional, and district level. The best employer I have ever worked for

    Cons

I have no cons to report in my time working for ulta beauty

bad management, no training, not focussed on your brand by ulta management like in actual department stores, you're a glorifies beauty advisors (sales associate), If your new to makeup good luck no one trains you well, Had to clean the toilets when its not your job, the people you work with (management and associates) are snakes

I worked at Ulta Beauty part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Awesome experience being around makeup and getting to learn about new products and techniques.

    Cons

Shifts were inconsistent; felt like beauty ambassadors were on their own.

I have been working at Ulta Beauty part-time

    Pros

Pay Cleanliness Team members Discount Hands on training

    Cons

Most beauty advisors only work part timer because there are so many employees so you only get 25 hrs a week which isn’t bad if you go to school but if you have bills to pay you might want to consider getting another job.

I have been working at Ulta Beauty part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun, laid-back atmosphere, opportunity to earn free products through training

    Cons

High turnover/poor retention, attendance policy needs work i.e. the Company does not accept doctor's notes if you're sick and anything over the 3 allotted sick days results in point demerits. Pay is very low for beauty advisors.

    I worked at Ulta Beauty

    Pros

Gratis, Salon Discounts... and that’s about it.

    Cons

Theft is a HUGE problem. Instead of being able to call the police on groups that come and rob us we are told to customer service and engage. My life is more important that a $70 bottle of cologne. It’s honestly ridiculous. Hire a security guard. General Manager spends 99% of her time in the office and leaves early left and right. Other managers are constantly screwed over and forced to work alone on the sales floor and handle everything by themselves. If you ask another manager to come out from the back and help you’ll get a snippy comment on how “busy” they are. Why is ulta beauty open on holidays?? You just have upset associates who are missing out on time with your family so the store can maybe make $2k on the day? Acknowledge a healthy work life balance. District manager never wants to be bothered and is more worried about her friendships with the managers than anything else. DM is non existent in stores and always emails not to bother her.

I worked at Ulta Beauty part-time for more than a year

    Pros

When I was hired, I was so excited to work with makeup. The discounts you get while working there are great. You always have first dibs on the latest palettes and skin care. The salon discount was nice (but also a con) and some of the people I worked with were very fun to talk to.

    Cons

Low hours. Very cliquey management that will either give you all the hours if you fit the beauty ideal appearance they personally like. On top of that, management changes on a dime. You'll get use to one person's management, and then they will be moved. Lots of questionable practices regarding returned makeup. If you're looking for a part time, this is fine, but definitely have a second job in your back pocket if you need more than 10 hours a week.
