    Pros

Pay and benefits are good. There's a lot of good people at this company.

    Cons

I worked at United Technologies full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

UTC is a huge corporation, but the business units have a lot of freedom in the way they operate. For this reason you may have totally different experience depending on the unit you work for. You need to learn how the corporation works and then you can accomplish a lot if you are ambitious.

    Cons

Big global corporation. It is hard to hire new engineers in the USA. It is also easy to be lazy and imitate work.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at United Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Easy to shine given all the incompetence at various levels of the disorganization. Decent benefits including health, dental, vision. Flexibility to move around to different business units

    Cons

Low pay given the workload. There’s tremendous incompetence everywhere, especially in the retained IT staff. I’m enjoying how they’re slapping the word “Digital” on all the dinosaurs still working there.

I have been working at United Technologies

    Pros

A clean, safe working environment. Reasonable pay and benefits.

    Cons

Staff cuts through layoffs and furloughs have resulted in very stressful working conditions because those that remain are expected to cope with unchanged delivery requirements. As a result, staff are regularly criticized for missed delivery commitments and quality escapes caused by rushing. Many experienced people who care the most about what they do have been leaving to find employment with a better work-life balance. Central UTAS management is remote, arrogant and out-of-touch with what goes on at the specialist business units.

I have been working at United Technologies

    Pros

Large company with many business units to work with/for. Great mission depending on which business you work for. Tons of opportunity for movement within the company. Excellent benefits package with an employee education program (tuition reimbursement) that's second to none. Lots of work to do.

    Cons

UTC is a huge, multi-national organization that sometimes feels like a mom-and-pop shop. Corporate often has expectations of the business units that are ignored or significant push-back is applied ("we've ALWAYS done it this way, why do you want to change now?"). LOTS of work to do. Annual bonuses only apply to the Senior Management/Executive Level.

I have been working at United Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Multi billion company with a lot of established processes in place. In most industries their companies rank at the top of the market.

    Cons

Unfortunately the continued focus on cutting costs in our business unit has left us with such a lack of talent, resources and support that we can no longer perform our jobs effectively. The promotion of this dangerous "yes" culture and inexperienced managers lends to low morale.
