I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Depending on which part of the business, the coworkers can be pleasant -WFH policy is generally very open, but depends on the manager attitude -Salary is good, but like mentioned in other reviews, gets easily outpaced by the market -Generally, everyone makes an effort to listen to issues brought up by employees -PTO offering -If you land on a good team with directors that can manage their leaders well, it makes a whole world of positive difference

    Cons

-Disregard for process, lots of "urgent" requests that result in rushed work that is difficult to take pride in accomplishing -Uninspired leadership lacks diversity of perspective, very self-congratulatory leader culture filled with people that don't actually know how to do anything but meet with each other and present what they met about to their teams -If you tell leaders "No" in any way, be prepared to search for a new job -Don't expect support from anyone; employees are left to figure everything out on their own -Lack of clarity on all work projects, particularly when requests come in directly from leadership -Benefit offerings are not great, considering this is a health insurance company. -Work/life balance is extremely up and down. You'll be told often they don't want you working nights and weekends, and then they will expect work be done on nights and weekends. And while on PTO. -LOTS of meetings where nothing gets accomplished other than scheduling another meeting -They've spent years talking about increasing career development opportunities, and there has been very little improvement for all the talk. If you want to pursue a track in leadership, you will need to move to another company - UnitedHealth appears focused on hiring leaders from outside industries -Regular major administrative restructuring leads to yearly layoffs, job security is not a sure thing. And company culture only gets worse with every shake up. -Political bias is now RAMPANT in all areas. You will get treated differently if you reveal too much about your personal life and opinions. -Reviews, raises and bonuses appear arbitrary and not tied, in reality, to performance

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

UnitedHealthcare is a great company to work for, especially if you’re entry-level. There are many opportunities to grow and I’ve learned quite a bit that will benefit my career in the future. They do well in promoting and developing talent, I’ve had three promotions in just a year. I’m very happy with management, they are communicative and make employees feel valued. My manager works with me to meet my goals as far as what my next career move in the company may be. I have many learning opportunities to learn about those roles. Culture is inclusive and diverse. Pay is respectable.

    Cons

The benefit package could be improved upon. Deductibles on health insurance are a bit high, and there aren’t any non-managed care that have copays. Vision coverage is great, though.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

•Fair Salary •Remote roles •Volunteer match program •Individual Health Insurance is really affordable •On-site health clinic •Online Learning

    Cons

Mass layoffs are far too frequent-while many other companies CEO’s are forgoing their million dollar salaries to minimize RIF, it’s just not the case with UHC. Most recently an entire segment of roles was eliminated, only to have the same roles be posted for applicants with several days later. Using layoffs to meet their bottom line is just not a culture that values people.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Job security. Always a way for business managers to exploit you. You will never learn everything which for me was great because I like to comquer. Bore easily. If that's you than you belong.

    Cons

Everything else. You wont get raises. Managers (if your a top performer) will KEEP YOU on the wheel because they make bonus off you performing well and sign off on promitions for people they want too but cant get rid of. Health insurance benefits are a joke and I dont understand how when we do so much for them ALL DAY!

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Many benefits at UHG: 1. Work from Home 2. Work life balance (minimum work which you can complete in 3/4 days) 3. Flexible timings 4. Health Insurance covered 5. Quarterly outing/lunch 6. Many Learning opportunities (Tuition Reimbursement available upto 50K per year) 7. Transport facility

    Cons

Company is too good but the newly hired management is from Infy/TCS/some Indian MNC and changing the working culture of UHG. 1. One sided management 2. Lot of politics/favoritism 3. Manager/leads doesn't encourage your passion, everytime they care about their safe side 4. Poor ratings & hikes/RRP (this effects because of favoritism) 5. When the company switched to OGS (Optum Global Solutions) many things changed compared to the benefits of having at UHG.
