I worked at University of Derby UK full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Excellent students who want to make the most of their degree - In general, most member offering academic support have integrity are dedicated and supportive

    Cons

I worked at the University of Derby Online Learning (UDOL). Joining this organisation was the worst decision I ever made. Although institutionalised bullying exists in many places, UDOLs academic bullying is shocking. Some of UDOL's staff enjoy making personal and illegal comments on other members of staff for their own amusement. These bullies are highly 'connected' and will make your life hell. These individuals... frequently masquerade their bad behaviour as a 'joke' to get away with their horrible behaviour. I would encourage any job seeker to investigate this organisation's high turnover before considering an offer from them.

    Advice to Management

Take complaints of bullying and harassment more seriously. Bullies should not go unchallenged in any organisation purely because of the fear of losing them as members of staff. They are the reason you are losing good staff to begin with. I would encourage HR to mass sack the bullies if needed to change UDOL's toxic culture.

I worked at University of Derby UK full-time

    Pros

Flexibility, salary, parking on site ( you do have to pay)

    Cons

Workload - more and more is asked of you. If a member of the team leaves, their work is off loaded on to the others in the team and it takes a while to recruit a new staff member.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic with hours on workload planner and staff need time to do research.

I have been working at University of Derby UK full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very happy to be working for this company, you get benefits such as additional days off surrounding Easter and Christmas and some discounts with local companies e.g. Derby Theatre and Georges's Fish and Chips.

    Cons

You have to pay for parking and it is only valid at one site. However it is a small % of your salary so you don't really notice it.
