    Positive Outlook

I have been working at University of Queensland full-time

    Pros

    - Good benefit especially generous superannuation - Paid Maternity leave up to 12 month ( you can choose full pay 6 month, 75% pay and half pay) - Onsite parking ( during COVID is for free) - Lots of software you can use for free as staff - Staff training courses for free as staff - Free access to books and journals and other online sources

    Cons

    - Typical government like working environment , hard to fire people . If your supervisor or manager is bully or psychopath , most likely it is you have to leave. I endured a 8 years long bully by my supervisor with 3 managers, numerous meetings , staff unhappy then have to leave , but the bully was still there after my colleagues and I left . But no management to stand up to fire this bully . - Typical lower level staff have to comply with so-called policy but hight C suite people can bypass policy place. - Money spending place but no business improvement . People stay their jobs so long without cross training or career development in lots of areas. - People tend to stick to their old inefficient way doing things and reluctant to change to find better solutions. - Young people does not get promoted because too many older staff ( professional and academics) sitting on top of you .
