I have been working at Urban Outfitters for more than a year

    Pros

40% staff discount & friendly co-workers, pretty flexible with rotas as long as you ask in advance or find someone to swap with.

    Cons

Honestly I think UO is not that great really... For starters it's well documented that as a company they have repeatedly ripped off designs from artists & independent creatives (not even getting started on their terrible track record of cultural appropriation & racism, google it) Secondly - GREENWASHING - it bugs me so much that the company tries to put over that somehow it's not fast fashion & supports being environmentally friendly by selling a few Chilly Bottles yet it continues overproducing vast quantities of cheaply made clothes which it sells at extortionate prices. Not to mention if a customer returns something because it is damaged eg. there's a rip or a zip is broken then you are instructed to take a pair of scissors to it and DESTROY IT !! before tossing it in the bin (so no one could fish it out and have it). The size range of clothes at UO is dismal, I feel so embarrassed every time I have to apologize to a customer when we don't offer a piece in their size, I'm not even talking about plus size here it's honestly ridiculous... eg the jeans usually stop at a 32W (that's a UK14) not ok. Also I hate the fact that when working here you spend most of your time stressing about trying to spot shoplifters, really takes away from being able to offer good customer service. Also the CEO is definitely a bad egg.

I worked at Urban Outfitters part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Clothing discount... Seriously, that’s it

    Cons

Having worked for 3 years in retail prior to this, I was appalled by the way I was treated from day one. No trust, confidence or room for progression, jobs delegated to staff like they were pieces of dirt, couldn’t wait for every shift to end. Extremely high turnover as staff were out of the door quicker than you could say the company name. Avoid at all costs, you’re worth more than this!
