I have been working at UserTesting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work from home Office Space Snacks, Benefits and Perks

    Cons

This company has been around since 2007 and for 13 years still has not made any momentum. Competitors are already ruling the space but because of their "naming" convention they get more brand awareness. Honestly, I regret taking this job and I'm trying to explore other opportunities but COVID. I was lead on saying we have great leadership and everything but everyone is just a slave owner. No diversity at all. Core Values are trash, might as well put up a blank page and write whatever on it and call it a company.

    Pros

Hot product in a hot market. Good for sales.

    Cons

Rampant nepotism and racism. CRO only hires and promotes his white friends from Palo Alto. C level HR person responded to complaints about the lack of diversity by saying "I hired some beautiful black women down in Atlanta." Horrifying how ignorant they are.

    UserTesting Response

    July 7, 2020Chief People Officer

Your note comes as quite a surprise to our team and we’re sorry your time at UserTesting didn’t work out. Our leadership and our employees are very proud of our company culture and the diversity of our team. The results of our recent employee survey (through Culture Amp, an anonymous 3rd party survey tool) show that 94% of folks at UserTesting would recommend the company to a friend as a great place to work. While we do have many referral hires, we’ve also actively diversified our workforce over the last two years. The majority of our growth has not come in the Bay Area, but mostly in Scotland, our Atlanta office, and in our remote employee group. During that time, we’ve also almost doubled our representation of African Americans in our U.S. workforce to 11% (near the 12.7% that is the U.S. general population). We’ve set and publicized a target internally of getting that group to be 15% of our team. We have also grown our diverse representation in leadership, but are holding ourselves accountable for doing even better. While the personal attacks and mischaracterization of statements in your post are unfair and inaccurate, we would still welcome the opportunity to talk to you about them. We work hard to be very transparent in what we do, how we do it, and why -- and if you thought we had these significant and abhorrent issues, you should have reached out to anyone on our executive team to discuss them. Any of us would make ourselves available, even now, to discuss your concerns and to try to understand your perspective.

    Pros

Easy product to sell. Because its literally a recorded video review. Not so much "technology" sale. Some nice people that want to help. Work from home.

    Cons

CRO talks a big game on transparency, openness, and culture of team. Yet the minute and give honest feedback that HE asked for, he reprimands them. CRO also doesn't have much respect from the ranks. He doesnt/cant much value to senior/seasoned sales professionals. Kind of a weird disjointed sales culture for such a small company. Product is a 1 trick pony and competitors have caught up to them. I dont see how they can expand with additional products. No territory analysis for incoming AE's. They wing it and it shows. Most accounts have been oversold.

We’re all sad to see your review of your brief experience working on the UT Sales team. It sounds like what we’ve put together didn’t work for what you wanted to sell and how you wanted to be managed - and that happens. We do wish you well for the future and know that different environments work for different people, so we hope you find that place. Our sales team has overachieved for the past two years and kept their voluntary turnover rate under 5% because of that success. We’re all guessing this just wasn’t the right place for you and hoping it is the right place for the others on the sales team. Regardless, I’ll be discussing your comments with the CRO because we can all #get better.

MOST PLATFORM WASTING TIME 1000000000% Hoped to earn some money but is an automatic system. You work with a ROBOT. IF they pay you 10$ is because you spend 3 month on there. THE WORST EVER PLATFORM IN THE ALL PLANET

I have been working at UserTesting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is really taking off. The level of excitement and success I have seen over the last year has been amazing. Outstanding culture, really impressive management and an overwhelmingly positive environment.

    Cons

Company is growing very quickly and that can lead to some disruption in certain departments, but management is responding effectively and overall, significant growth is a really good thing

"Great casual gig until recently - website issues now making it a waste of time"

    4.0
    Current Employee - Tester

I have been working at UserTesting part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun! It's really great to review sites knowing that you can influence how they'll work for other people. Pay! It's really only casual money, $10 US per test, but most of them are less than 20 minutes, so the per hour pay is good.

    Cons

The website seems to be working poorly these days. I've changed browsers and tried everything I can on my end, but I am accepted for tests and then immediately rejected. It's becoming a waste of my time to keep the window open. It's a shame since I've really enjoyed doing the tests and I have a 5-star rating along with positive comments from the people reviewing my responses.

I have been working at UserTesting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Kindness is a core cultural tenant that isn't just a slogan. For a startup the perks are pretty awesome 401k, lunches, fully stocked kitchen. The product is has a fantastic market fit and the company is significantly doubling down on R&D. Leadership is super accessible and the CEO is incredibly honest and transparent.

    Cons

Sure, it's a startup so there are growth pains...but considering where the company is the infrastructure investment is much more significant then I have seen at some public companies!
