I have been working at VITAS Healthcare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Servicing patients and families in need.

    Cons

Managers do not care about their employees and are not motivating. Making money is the company's top priority. They all sound like politicians, from the CEO downward, feeding their staff nonsense so that they comply. This is the worst company I have ever worked for.

I worked at VITAS Healthcare full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Rewarding interactions with patients and families

    Cons

vitas is a toxic work environment. Where you hear all to often about employees being bullied, over worked, stressed and disrespected. Upper management consists of a toxic few, who are unable to think critically and come up with creative ideas to make the company thrive. Instead employees are told to keep their head down, don’t speak and continue to work. A normal work day consists of running around the state driving 2-4 hrs a day with an 8 hour work load. Please don’t be fooled by the smooth talking and promises of the interview, there is a reason why they have so many positions to fill!

I worked at VITAS Healthcare full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly staff, wonderful patients and families.

    Cons

Be prepared to work on your personal time and not get paid for it! They use all paper charting. It is inefficient and redundant. Every minute of your day is self coded electronically. Every piece of documentation has to be photographed and submitted daily, extremely time consuming and again inefficient. Must see and document 5 patients a day within 30 mile radius, on top of paperwork and putting out daily fires.

    Pros

There are some employees who really care about patients and families

    Cons

Poor management, poor communication, corporate climate which is not appropriate for hospice work, expected to do more with less, no support, care more about how things look on paper than actual pt care, focus on minutia instead of staff

I have been working at VITAS Healthcare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The staff who do care, are wonderful contributors to the team. Working with patients and families. Nice building and break room

    Cons

Team management is rude, horrible communication, causing staff to guess or feel alone in their job. Social workers are not respected, there is a definite hierarchy and it’s shown by management actions. HR is a joke, nobody knows what’s going on or who to ask when you Have a question, mocking behaviors, not supportive. 2018 still doing PAPER DOCUMENTATION
