I have been working at VMware full-time

    Pros

Very much focused on employee benefits and well-being. Great atmosphere in the office both socially and professionally.

    Cons

Commission structure needs some work. Some of the old world sales guys have lost their hunting instincts.

    Advice to Management

Revamp the sales team with young, hungry talent and pay well to attract the best.

    I worked at VMware

    Pros

Great people, fantastic ideas, good customers. Company provides good physical work environment and solid compensation. A pioneer in the field and respected

    Cons

Newer products are not well integrated into the whole product set. Tries to hang on to the start-up culture but the business is beyond that and needs to grow up and become the mature organisation that it's customers need. Your experience will depend greatly on the quality of the management above you.

    Advice to Management

Improve the products and understand the problems the customer is trying to solve. Be consistent in your decisions.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at VMware full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Enthusiastic field teams that are willing to help out Large ecosystem of partner solutions that fill many of the gaps in VMware's own products

    Cons

Arrogance of product management. Absolute lack of customer focus. Political infighting among managers damaging the career prospects of their direct reports Career progression is not based on capabilities. Taking credit for the work of others is encouraged and is the only way to progress your career. EMC influence is most definitely a negative influence and is getting worse. Forget the prospect of any decent career...

    Advice to Management

Stop patting yourselves on the back and start listening to your customers and customer facing teams. Get back to making customers lives easier instead of introducing more and more complex products and features that are never deployed, even if the sales teams manage to sell them.

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at VMware full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary, training resources, PA campus A lot of smart engineer

    Cons

    - Political environment is destroying the company, leadership promote their friends - Benefits changes, company switch from Aetna to UHC to save money and seriously impacting the employees and families. HR doesn't do anything to help, just exist for administrative works - The EPIC2 values pushed by high executives, doesn't reflect the reality on the management level. This is a serious issue across the all BUs

    Advice to Management

Review the Directors and Managers on the same position for more than 5 years, they are on the comfort zone and don't work to make their teams better, promote and coach. Listen the employees and their concern about UHC, families are getting seriously impacted by this change.
