I worked at Valvoline full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great environment with the people working.

    Cons

Closing shifts would get really crowded sometimes. And it would be really hard to only deal with three people working

    Advice to Management

Maybe add an extra person for closing shifts

    Pros

Great Culture, Awesome colleagues, Flexible Top Management & decent pay outs...

    Cons

A bit too much numbers oriented, Growth prospects favored for a particular business segment (Retail) compared to others (Institutional/OEM)...

    Advice to Management

Impetus to be given for training & development of people subordinating Zonal positions...

    I worked at Valvoline full-time

    Pros

Great starter job for technicians wanting to get their feet wet in the industry

    Cons

    Sometimes understaffed in certain areas.

    Advice to Management

Focus a lot on the managers ability to delegate.

    I worked at Valvoline part-time

    Pros

There are a few good things about VIOC, it really depends on your store manager though. If it wasnt for mine I wouldnt have stayed a year. I enjoyed the discounts on batteries but other than that everything else is still cheaper elsewhere. Not a bad job for working through college.

    Cons

Dealing with constant need to upsell and no commission

    Advice to Management

Quit raising the prices on services when quality stays the same.

I worked at Valvoline full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great company. Good pay and benefits. Great coworkers on team.

    Cons

Upper management-buddy system. Hire people they like or worked for them.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to HR advice.

I worked at Valvoline part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you are an active person you'll enjoy this more than a desk job
You leave your uniform at the store

    Cons

Always being watched by the one above you, and he/she is being watched by the person above them.
They only care about sales and the average oil change time
Everyone is in a bad mood because of the stress put on them
Way too busy with too much expected of you
When you are employed, the upper level officials are clearly lying about the business
You have to remember a lot of call-outs in order
Valvoline will hire anyone without face tattoos, meaning you will be working with some potentially dangerous people.
No breaks, and you can't sit down

    Advice to Management

The job isn't pleasant, so the least you could do is keep the spirits within the store up.

I worked at Valvoline full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Provides training and good opportunity to advance to a certain point. Good culture. Personal upper management was good but it can vary. Great for entry level.

    Cons

Work conditions vary. Management can vary drastically on location. Juggle multiple running chainsaws at once. Perfection is the expectation. Salary position without overtime, work 45 hours one week and 73 hours the next but get paid the exact same.

    Advice to Management

Would like to see a more across the board attitude. It feels like somethings are allowed by one person but would be terminal offense by another. Clearer time line of promotions through out all levels, not just the lower entry level. Develop an overtime system for salary positions.
