I worked at Verizon Connect full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

VZC pays at or above market rate, and they don't vet qualifications (they employee friends and HR turns a blind eye), so they have glorified, vicious monkeys and high staff churn.

    Cons

Verizon is a relative newcomer in the telematics industry. They have not grown into this space. They used their bottomless cheque-book to buy their way in through acquisition. This means Verizon Connect doesn't have the framework to serve, maintain or build this market sector. The VZC management/leadership people are empire building and support themselves internally that they are doing a great job, as the company suffers and crumbles. Fortunately, VZ has deep pockets and no real market threats, so they can continue funding this dying venture for a number of years. VZ has a history of acquiring businesses for market share and then slowly letting them decay and disappear. Culturally, Verizon and Verizon Connect at at polar opposites. Parent company Verizon pays a lot of attention to staff and their wellbeing. However, Verizon Connect has been taken over by a different generation of yahoos that want to run things differently, at odds with theparent company's values. VZC is toxic, a financial/business mess and the internal anxiety means that people are pushing each other under buses to ensure their own survivial. Collectively, the whole of HR have resorted to turning a blind eye, because the problem is global and too big to deal with. VZC's concept of culture is free lollies and a ping-pong table, whilst secretly the time-keeping police are making notes of who comes and goes at what times, followed by negative and reviews. The method is to bully people out of the way and make way for friends to come in instead. They have it cushy of good money, nepotism and no defined deliverables to acheive. It's comfy but be warned - it is very toxic. Think twice before putting yourself or someone you care about into this environment.
