I worked at Vestas Wind Systems full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is doing well in terms of profitability and growth. As a Finance organisation, they offer various finance facets where employees can learn and grow.

    Cons

Top Level Management especially in the Shared Service organisation sucks at doing their job! They are trying to force leaders to adapt their way of leadership which isn’t effective in a Filipino organisation.

    Advice to Management

For SSC top leadership to go Back to DK and let Filipino leaders lead the Philippine organisation

I have been working at Vestas Wind Systems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great intentions, freedom to determine own tasks, environmentally friendly products, good colleagues, work that is inspiring.

    Cons

Young company, doesn't know how to create and implement strategy. Management has little control of the business. Lots of silos and jealous guarding of territory. Could use better information sharing. Promotions and firings have more to do with politics than performance. Gets away with mismanagement of employees because their green product makes them an attractive employer from the outside.

I have been working at Vestas Wind Systems

    Pros

Overall, good colleagues. Great to be a part of the renewable energy industry. Ok pay/benefits, nothing crazy. Management is somewhat candid about its reasons for doing things, as an example, the recent layoffs late 2010.

    Cons

Still Denmark-centric. Occasional disparaging remarks about non-European countries. Title inflation. Everyone's a manager/director/VP. As a result, lot of captains, no soldiers. Very critical things get done eventually, but it takes a really long time and held up. Then its also rushed. People in their positions are knowledgeable but when the so called alignment took place, a lot of people got promoted into management...

    Advice to Management

Cut down on title inflation. Reorganize business units. The "Government" structure is nice in concept, but creates a lot of power struggle, resulting in poor execution and delays, excessive reporting, and redundant costs in the form of G&A support. You have a great product, motivated people, cut down on the bureacracy and redundancy. Listen to the line managers who are working under weak senior managers - they aren't...
