I worked at Vestas Wind Systems full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Short hours, good vacations and business meals.

    Cons

Poor management, condescending attitude of Danish headquarter, low pay, low benefits, resentment from customers, lack of local technical knowhow, no accountability by the management. Complex and inefficient management structure.

    Advice to Management

Decrease your workforce in Denmark, hire senior executives who are experienced in the wind industry and Asia, give ownership and accountability to local people.

I have been working at Vestas Wind Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of good work to be done if you know how to market yourself. Plenty of resources to learn the state of the art technology

    Cons

Poor Management in Chennai office. The management team and the HR Team in Chennai are sub standard at best. Evaluation criteria for India offices are based on metrics that are suitable for Scandinavian offices. Some important local elements are completely missed in the process of striving for improvement. Working style is hierarchical however, the office operates under the facade of a flat organization as promoted... in Denmark. It doesnt serve the purpose of either working styles. Unnecessarily secretive working style too.

I worked at Vestas Wind Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good pay and awesome benefits as long as you can keep them before your fired for some dumb reason

    Cons

too much nepotism, poor management, they would rather fire you for you that work with you on issue that could be easily corrected. It is a revolving door. People always numerous people constently quitting and people getting fired for the most ridiculous situations. Vestas does not care about the employee. You can be there 1 year or 7 years and if they decide they don't want you any more they will target you and... you are gone.

I worked at Vestas Wind Systems full-time

    Pros

Enjoyed my time at Vestas, learned a lot, friendly people and good engineers, would recommend it as a place to work

    Cons

Poor management meant money was spent frivolously when times were good, leading to significant lay-offs and offices shutting down when the market changed

I worked at Vestas Wind Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Work life balance, good pay and benefits, has training overseas, safety first, pleasant work environment, colleagues are generally friendly and easy to work with, updated technology

    Cons

Poor management from Production and operations, IT and upto top executive management, because they are very agile in making critical decisions and implementing changes not knowing the big picture (start to bottom of the business) and no post mortem and follow thru. Because of poor planning, implementation have many defects but given that no post evaluation is done to avoid the same scenario. Has poor process and... standards eventhough they have educated leaders, they dont value quality they are more into delivery. Top management are egoistic, they value themselves first before the people that are actually keeping the business alive. They don't value best people in every sectors of the business the reason why the company has poor business continuity. No job security because changes happen anytime, massive layoffs and outsourcing had been the solution to old problems like poor resource management (finance, technology and skilled/professional people), poor practice of standard processes and very laid back work attitude/culture (too much is dangerous)

    Advice to Management

Try to learn the business first to be able to plan and decide, especially to newly hired bosses. They should have an exam before they actually be able to decide for the company. Value best people in every departments to have a stable business, do not retain leaders that are being paid very high but have not actually given any value to the business. I think they should have cleansed first the leaders before the... people that actually works. Remember in a manufacturing kind of business attitude is more important than the resume (because words in the resume can be deceiving)👍🏻 I
