I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - meet lots of amazing crew and guests - 6 weeks of paid leave per year - it can be fun and rewarding

    Cons

    - long working days - busy - crewing change your roster, flights, hotels, layovers, crew all the time. You never know one day to the next - shifts are all over the place - some mean cabin managers, crew and managers in general - exams to study for all the time, and they are really difficult

    Advice to Management

Be nicer to the crew, we are just humans doing our best

    Advice to Management

Needs to come down harder on the dead weight

I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time

    Pros

The culture is great at Virgin. Full of very passionate people genuinely engaged in doing great work in a truly dynamic environment. The staff benefits are also awesome

    Cons

Hard to find a downside! Airlines are a 24/7 operation so it can sometimes be hard to truly switch off. The pace is intense, so people can burn out.

    Advice to Management

Protect and grow/evolve the culture and keep hiring passionate, talented people! Being conscious and realistic about the pace of the business is important to advise candidates of when they sign up.

I have been working at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time

    Pros

NOT MANY LEFT TO BE FOUND

    Cons

LOTS OF SECRETS BEING HIDDEN IN CREATIVE ACCOUNTING

    Advice to Management

Stop making us buy our own stationary - and yes there's a lot more to this than pen's and pencil's. Wake up and smell the rose's before there are none left in the garden.

    Pros

Great work life balance. Amazing travel and industry perks for you and your family to use around the world. Shift work

I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent staff travel benefits, business is dynamic and everchanging, generally innovative as a business and trying to win, youthful and energetic

    Cons

Work harder for less money than the main competitor, business sometimes does things “half assed” to save a dollar, promotions impossible unless you are friends with people at the top

    Advice to Management

Avoid the cost cutting low cost mindset! It’s no longer a low fare airline and the cost cutting shows (eg 1/4 sandwich for an inflight “meal.”.. just give the pax the whole damn sandwich and wear the additional 50c cost!)

I have been working at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Funny the negative reviews are mostly those that did the role for 1-2 years... the more you stay the more you get paid (much more), more annual leave seniority you accrue. Rosters can sometimes be hard but you can bid for what you want each month. The culture is toxic only if you make it out to be. Advice - get a life outside of work and get off the social media/group outings ifbyou can’t handle it and if it’s toxic for...

    Cons

Shame the pay starts off low, and takes several years to get to a wonderful rate. I agree with most posts, management is difficult to tolerate sometimes. Training is petty but all airlines aren’t petty with their answers. I have flown for 3 airlines and would fly with Virgin Australia for my career still over Qantas and others, as they offer much less pay than Virgin these days on their new contracts. Promotions can take...

    Advice to Management

Restructure yourself. Fix the low morale environment. Understand the crew are using what ever resources they can to do whatever they can.
