Fast paced environment, no two days are the same. Lovely Guests on board. Thorough...

    Cons

you have a lot of family and friends who will ask you for discounted flights and as they can't book themselves you can often feel like a travel agent constantly booking and modifying flights and handling payments

    Advice to Management

keep doing as you are doing - very optimistic times with the appointment of Paul S and can't wait to see what the future holds

I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Short haul the crew are nice, the hotels are nice. Nice to be warm when cold at your home base.

    Cons

Long days. Rosters all over the place.not enough crew in short busy flights. The should have 5 crew per flights.

    Advice to Management

Have more crew in flights so there is time to engage with the passangers

I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - meet lots of amazing crew and guests - 6 weeks of paid leave per year - it can be fun and rewarding

    Cons

    - long working days - busy - crewing change your roster, flights, hotels, layovers, crew all the time. You never know one day to the next - shifts are all over the place - some mean cabin managers, crew and managers in general - exams to study for all the time, and they are really difficult

    Advice to Management

Be nicer to the crew, we are just humans doing our best

I have been working at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Funny the negative reviews are mostly those that did the role for 1-2 years... the more you stay the more you get paid (much more), more annual leave seniority you accrue. Rosters can sometimes be hard but you can bid for what you want each month. The culture is toxic only if you make it out to be. Advice - get a life outside of work and get off the social media/group outings ifbyou can’t handle it and if it’s toxic for...

    Cons

Shame the pay starts off low, and takes several years to get to a wonderful rate. I agree with most posts, management is difficult to tolerate sometimes. Training is petty but all airlines aren’t petty with their answers. I have flown for 3 airlines and would fly with Virgin Australia for my career still over Qantas and others, as they offer much less pay than Virgin these days on their new contracts. Promotions can take...

    Advice to Management

Restructure yourself. Fix the low morale environment. Understand the crew are using what ever resources they can to do whatever they can.

I have been working at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-> Great work/life balance -> Excellent Staff Travel benefits (although can be expensive compared to other airline programs) -> Excellent line manager -> Pay is above average for the industry

    Cons

-> IT systems (e.g. rostering, paylsips) annoyingly difficult to access -> Can often be away from family/friends for extended periods -> One destination is enough to drive you loopy -> No growth in terms of career progression -> No satisfaction in terms of bidding due to 'manual' adjustments -> No recognition -> Constantly wondering when the airline is going to go bankrupt...

    Advice to Management

-> Deal with 'sinking ship' feeling that is throughout the airline -> Share with employees the plans for growth/expansion of the airline -> Share short/long term goals with employees -> Value employees more -> Stop feeding us 'crap' in terms of engaging with guests, then give shoddy quality products and expect us to deal with it

I have been working at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Staff travel Some ok colleagues Pay ok, could be better

    Cons

Incompetent management Toxic atmosphere No career path Poor training Backstabbing culture Reactive operational environment Amateur hour Poor hiring decisions Horrendous rosters No recognition for talent, only for toads

    Advice to Management

Recognise the toxic, backstabbing culture and stop buying into it! You are losing genuinely talented people who could make a difference in favour of homogeneous yes-men only interested in feathering their own nests.

I have been working at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    >Amazing people to work with. >Very sociable job. >Option to make more money if you wish to by bidding for trips and working on days off.

    Cons

    >Extreme lack of work-life balance. We struggle to maintain and even develop relationships on the outside. You can't be guaranteed weekends off even when they're your number 1 request, so be very wary of that. >Work long days/early hours. Can request against these but may have to sacrifice other things you want out of a roster. >Shocking rostering...

    Advice to Management

    >Halt the terrible rosters and terrible single-day trip pairings. Crew are "humans" with phsyiological needs. >Get rid of the full service, at least just on the shorter sector (<1hr 30 minute) flights. People *should not* need a coffee with milk and sugar on a 32 minute flight. We already have enough mandatory things to do before and after the flight as it is. We don't need to be running around for 10 hours straight.
