I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Worked as Crew, Met some really great people in the 3 years I worked there. Staff Travel benefits and credits of $1000 which renew annually.

    Cons

We're to start ? Started at Virgin with very high expectations, and was under the impression they follow the Branson values. Not the case at all........ * Poor management with lack of leadership and management skills. Promotions are based on how hard you can suck eggs, leading to low quality employees striving in higher positions. * Majority of the crew were really dissatisfied, very negative and at times an awful working environment. * lack of resources from the company, constantly apologising to passengers, for things that were well beyond your control. *Recruitment was poor, bad communication, very lengthy process. * terrible rosters, maximum hours doing 4 - 5 sector days (Domestic) It's Really not with your physical and mental health!

I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines

    Pros

Virgin seems to attract great people. I suspect this is due to the brand's cache and staff discounts.

    Cons

Although they attract great people, they can't retain them with the terribly low wage and lack of acknowledgement. When you work a 24/7 roster and sacrifice work-life balance and your health regularly, you should be compensated and acknowledged accordingly. Yes there are travel discounts, but I found that the toll this job took on my relationships and health when combined with the extremely low wage- wasn't worth it. I'd rather work regular hours, receive a living wage and be able to get and afford quality time off when my friends and family do.

I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The staff make the job. The crew you work with every day.

    Cons

Rostering. No fairness in Annual Leave. You do a favour for the airline working hours you shouldn't but if you are 1 minute late you are asked for a "Please Explain". Rostering is brutal. When you get a bad roster expect to be a wreck at the end of the month. Money does not equate to all that you lose out on. ZERO work life balance. Don't fly for too long or you will be stuck there. Terrible for your health and wellbeing. Pay structure has not kept up with inflation.
