I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time

    Pros

Friendly people, staff travel benefits, changing all the time

    Cons

Disconnects between GM and Executive levels Squeezing employee numbers, but burning cash elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Talk to the employees that do the work, not always the management level view Talk to the employees about what works and doesn't work Run your own race, it's not always about qantas.

    Pros

Staff travel benefits Fellow crew were These were the only two things that kept me here for 4 years.

    Cons

-Under qualified management- no business, leadership or people skills. - Managers share your personal information around office. - Condescending and passive aggressive. - Managers miss meetings they schedule ALL the time. - Lacks overall professionalism - Threatened and made to feel guilty when taking sick/ personal leave. - Not offered appropriate support when going through personal issues ( 3 suicides in less than...

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees right ( learn some people skills) so that they can mentally and physically go to work with the capability to deliver the service that the customers deserve. Stop stepping on people to get to the top, without those below you you won't have a job. Stop letting valuable, high performing crew members walk away.

I worked at Virgin Australia Airlines full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent staff travel benefits, business is dynamic and everchanging, generally innovative as a business and trying to win, youthful and energetic

    Cons

Work harder for less money than the main competitor, business sometimes does things “half assed” to save a dollar, promotions impossible unless you are friends with people at the top

    Advice to Management

Avoid the cost cutting low cost mindset! It’s no longer a low fare airline and the cost cutting shows (eg 1/4 sandwich for an inflight “meal.”.. just give the pax the whole damn sandwich and wear the additional 50c cost!)
