I worked at Winn-Dixie full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most people on the store level can be awesome and can become a second family, their trying to change for the better.

    Cons

The corporate side if Winn Dixie is the worst I have ever seen and they seem to want to squeeze out every dollar until the next bankruptcy (3 already). Most upper management have been there forever and are just waiting for retirement age. Corporate constantly cuts hours and introduces new "programs" that require more time without giving any more hours for it, then when that program fails they blame stores and managers, and they always fail within 6 months surprise surprise.

    I worked at Winn-Dixie full-time

    Pros

The customers and fellow coworkers are the only pro

    Cons

This company recently laid off or eliminated so many job positions then gave the speech saying they had all these new openings for these new positions. Well it was all untrue. They said that by eliminating those positions that they would have more available hours for the stores. That was also untrue because the stores are getting even less hours than before the layoffs. Many stores have very unprofessional, and rude store directors. They say what they say then talk behind everyone's backs and treat their employees with absolute no respect. Upper management is a joke. Everyone is doing what they can to keep their job so nobody has time for anybody beneath them. Many customers were outraged when they heard about the layoffs. The so called "fresh departments" are using so much pre made items that it is a joke. Anyone looking for a job should avoid this place. Go to Publix or Walmart, you will be treated better.

I worked at Winn-Dixie full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Do you like being treated and talked to like a dog ever min of you shift? How about being cursed out in front of customers? This job is for you!

    Cons

Avoid at all cost! Upper management are the most unprofessional people I have ever come across. Team work is only a myth in the southeastern grocers culture. Time and time again they have demoted or let go of good people. Payroll Hours are cut more and more.

I worked at Winn-Dixie full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I can honestly say the only pro is schedule flexibility. And that depends on the manager making your schedule. Thankfully I was on good terms with mine. But I did see instances where, if she didn't like someone, she would schedule them as little as possible, ultimately forcing them to quit. Done this way, the company doesn't have to pay them unemployment. It was an open secret among management that was the way to get rid of someone. A person can't live on 10 hours a week. However, there was a lot of comraderie among the hourly associates. You're all pretty much in the same boat and rely on each other.

    Cons

Upper management always changing. Store management iffy; I would say one in ten genuinely care about their employees and work hard themselves. Rarely see salaried managers for more than a few hours, usually put in an appearance and leave. Or, if corporate is coming they make a big show of being there and act like they work hard all the time. You do at least three jobs and barely get paid for one. After being there for nearly 15 years I had just started making a little over$12 an hour. I have been at my present job (another grocery retailer) a year and a half and make more now, and I am only responsible for one job.
