I worked at swissbäkers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers
    Free/Discount delicious Food
    They remember your birthday

    Cons

This place is so disorganized and mismanaged it is nearly comical. Months later, though I wish I could write my experience with this company into a witty sitcom, I simply can’t — I’m still having nightmares.
Oh I wish I was joking.
I’ve never been more belittled or humiliated as an employee in my life - and I came from cleaning hotel bathrooms.
Expect low wages (and your paycheck mysteriously short occasionally), long hours,
    unpaid breaks, you’ll definitely need
to work Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving Week.
Oh, be sure to tell them any vacation days 4+ months in advance.
Show up early or you won’t be allowed to clock in.
The manager will call you on your sick day and harass you about going to the doctor to get a note (is this 5th grade)? Oh - wait you don’t health insurance? Sorry, that doctors note will cost you $85.
Mildly attractive female? Be ready to be told to smile and that you’re using “woman’s logic” whenever you have a problem.
Any nice coworkers you meet and like will be fired or quit within 5 weeks of you starting.
But don’t bother making friends because if you talk to anyone you’ll be asked why you’re not working.

Pros? Their rhubarb tart is decent.

    Advice to Management

Release your iron fists and let people work. Don’t try to control every single thing in every department. You can’t, that’s why you need to hire and actually trust managers.

I worked at swissbäkers part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved the contact with many happy guests. Explaining good quality European style food was satisfying. The work environment was fair, my boss jumped in to help at stressfull times. In a fast growing company everyone was expected to pull their weight, from the owner all the way down. Good work was recognized and rewarded.

    Cons

Work schedules were sometimes very late.

    Advice to Management

Be better organized for staffing issues.

    Pros

Product is without peer. All hand made, daily. Ability to learn and in turn lead others. Opportunity to directly contribute to the growth of the company. Company culture promotes pride.

    Cons

Separating work and private life can be difficult. It is up to you to stand your ground.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to keep the good people, it is imperative.

    Pros

Nice co workers the workers are good people the food is pretty good there and different than most places. The front and back of the house are both nice

    Cons

These guys (the owners)!just do not know how to treat people like.. well people, they yell, lie, consistently change their own rules to fit their mood of the day( which is usually angry) and they pile loads of work on you regardless of whether it’s in your skill set or not.. and if you accept salary get ready for at least 5 to 6 12 hr days

    Advice to Management

Define jobs and goal clearly. Provide better training and stop getting angry on a daily basis with the people who make all your products for you

I have been working at swissbäkers full-time

    Pros

Large, well equipped facility. Committed and friendly employees. Tasteful and diverse food and beverages

    Cons

No opportunities to grow or get promoted. Employees are consumables and professional work attitude is defined as the ability to work like a robot. Owners are in desperate rush to grow without any long-term strategies nor the ability to prioritize certain tasks above others.

    Advice to Management

Working too much impacts the ability to think objectively and analytically. Take a step back, slow down, and focus on building a strong base before trying to build your tower into the sky. But since you don't care about the opinion of others, I guess this paragraph's only reason is to entertain those who come here to read,-)

    Pros

Some of their food is pretty good; generally hire good people who are a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Run by a completely incompetent family. Don't know the first thing about building and driving a team. Promised growth, it never came. Altogether, poor business prospects.

    Advice to Management

Go back to running one small shop all in your own if you can't work with a team.
