Mental Health Awareness Week at Vortexa To mark Mental Health Awareness Week Vortexa invited special guest Josh Connolly, one of the UK’s most influential mental health advocates, who regularly speaks on BBC, ITV & Channel 5 news and has contributed to mental health policy, to speak about his own experiences. He has also spoken in the House of Commons, contributed to mental health policy, and even advised the scriptwriting team on Hollyoaks. Josh has run resilience workshops for village schools and global brands alike. Additionally, he is an ambassador for Nacoa – a national charity supporting people affected by a parent’s drinking.
A day in the life of… Lekan Ogunlana, Graduate Analyst Lekan is a Graduate Analyst at Vortexa. He studied at Imperial College where he read MSci Geology followed by a MSc in Metals and Energy Finance. He also plays for Hampstead and Westminster Hockey Club in the England Hockey League Premiership Division Fun fact: Although (as self described) of average height, Lekan can clear 2 metres in the high jump!
Q & A with Matteo Pallini, Senior Software Engineer After studying economics and statistics in Milan Matteo experienced first hand working in a large institution (the European Commission), in a large corporation (Procter & Gamble) and latterly in a small tech start-up (iwoca). Out of the three he fell in love with the last one, and since then all of his work experiences have been within tech companies. Outside of work Matteo spends as much time as possible on mountains (either skiing, climbing or hiking). When that’s not possible he loves reading old (and for most people boring) books (aka classic literature). Fun fact: 'After having been asked by many international friends “Have you ever seen a fox in London?” I can proudly say that I have also been bitten by one.'

A day in the life of… Christos Krigkou, Associate Data Analyst Christos supports research and analysis tasks related to crude flows and using internal tools and processes, he helps maintain data quality, spot market trends and draw key insights. Prior to joining the company, Christos was based in Cyprus and worked at D.G Techlink LTD as a User Acceptance Tester Lead and has studied Chemistry at Imperial College London. Fun fact: Christos is the 7th Chris at Vortexa.
A day in the life of… Karolina Jasinska, Content & Creative Ops Manager Karolina moved to London and completed her BA in Film Practice and MA in Strategic Marketing. Before working in marketing she was a director and producer for various short films. Prior to joining the company, Karolina worked at Bonhill as a Content Manager. Fun fact: Karolina is a certified PADI Rescue Diver
A day in the life of… Dylan Simpson, Freight Analyst Dylan is a Freight Analyst, responsible for our weekly Freight Newsletter as well as the freight content in our weekly market briefings. Alongside his market analysis, Dylan also explores the freight API/SDK and creates new use cases for our analysts and clients. Prior to joining the company, Dylan worked as a Maths teacher. Fun fact: Dylan appears in a music video from his favourite band, Seether.
