A day in the life of… Andrea Gerino, Lead Engineer Andrea is one of our Lead Engineers, responsible for solving complex data-management challenges to support the development of the Vortexa platform. Prior to joining Vortexa, Andrea worked in academia, doing research in the field of mobile accessibility and assistive technologies. He also co-founded a start-up to transfer these technologies to the market. Fun fact: Andrea doesn’t eat tomatoes in any form!
Q & A with Christos Hadjinikolis, Senior Software Engineer Christos is a Senior ML Engineer, operating as part of the Predictions & Market Modelling Team (PMMT), responsible for generating high-value forecasts that enrich our data products through implementing data processing and ML pipelines to predict the operations of the >10,000 tankers tracked by our system. Prior to Vortexa, Christos worked as an ML Engineer consultant for major organisations, like Vodafone, with key responsibilities in the company’s effort to migrate its analytics services to the cloud; CNHi, working with sensory data to enrich live dashboards, and; UBS, where he leveraged his graph-analytics expertise to investigate and extract insights from millions of e-mails within the UBS network of internal and external communications. Fun fact: Christos can stand on his hands and he loves Japanese mangas! Q & A with John-Robert Granell - Head of Application Development John-Robert is Vortexa’s Head of Application Development and is responsible for delivering our platform and data to our clients. Prior to joining Vortexa, John-Robert worked in a variety of technical roles at Red Badger, BAE Applied Intelligence and the UK MOD. He also spent 7 years as an Infantry Officer in the British Army. Former ExxonMobil Global LNG Analytics Lead, Felix Booth joins Vortexa as its new Head of LNG to build the next generation of LNG analytics. Felix has extensive LNG industry expertise acquired through both analytics and commercial roles during his 13-year career at ExxonMobil. The combination of Mr Booth’s knowledge and experience in LNG, together with the application of Vortexa’s leading AI technology, are set to unlock massive value for market participants in the energy industry.

As Vortexa continues to exponentially scale all teams and roles in locations around the world, Andrew plays a central role in helping to find suitable candidates for every department from Marketing to Full Stack Engineering, with a specific focus on R&D opportunities. Prior to joining Vortexa, Andrew worked at the pre IPO technology company Samsara, as a recruiter. Fun fact: Andrew is a former amateur boxer!
