Q & A with Kaarthik Gunaratha, Product Specialist Kaarthik is a Product Specialist based in Singapore and supports the Commercial team in APAC. Prior to this he spent 2.5 years working at an oil and gas trading company. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Singapore Management University. Fun fact: ‘I’m a caffeine addict. A day in the life of… Edward Webb, Graduate Software Engineer Ed grew up in Bristol and loves to travel as much as possible, his longest trip being around the world through south-east Asia, New Zealand, and South America. The picture is from his recent trip to Central America. He also loves music and film, he’s currently working through Nic Cage’s back catalogue with his flatmate. Prior to joining the company, Ed worked at… a completely different role to the one at Vortexa: Wildtracks Campervans in Bristol, where he spent two years renovating and converting old and new vehicles into bespoke campervans. Fun fact: Ed modelled for a Banksy piece of art. (It never got finished!)

Q & A with Miguel Uzcategui, Lead Full Stack Engineer Miguel is a technical lead of a pod of full stack engineers on the Application Development Team. A day in the life of… Jakub Buskiewicz, Full Stack Engineer Jakub moved permanently to the UK in 2022. Before this he lived the majority of his life in Poland with some shorter periods of living in Bristol. As you can see in the picture he’s not afraid of getting his hands dirty during 10km Obstacle Course Race 😎 Prior to joining Vortexa, Jakub worked at various companies e.g. as a frontend consultant for the biggest international biopharma and laboratory equipment supplier as well as a full stack engineer for a US music startup. Also as a Javascript teacher! Fun fact: Jakub used to play the trumpet for his high school orchestra which is one of the best in Poland!
Q & A with Edward Smith, Product Specialist Edward is a Product Specialist in the London team looking after the customer journey within EMEA. Prior to joining Vortexa, Edward worked at the maritime intelligence company Lloyd’s List Intelligence, working as an analyst researching global maritime infrastructure and vessel tracking data. Fun fact: Edward is a keen amateur photographer and once owned a photography business specialising in events, live music and weddings. Now he likes to use his spare time hiking in nature focusing on landscapes and birds of prey. A day in the life of… Mariana Dorsey, Product Specialist Mariana was born in Bogota, Colombia but moved to the States when she was 6 years old. She studied international business and started off her professional career at Under Armour on the supply chain team, then moved to Exxon and now she’s here! Prior to joining the company, Mariana worked at ExxonMobil as a Crude Scheduler. Fun fact: I recently taught myself how to crochet. Designing and creating your own clothes and gifts for friends is a lot of fun.
