New joiner spotlight: meet Evghenia Kuznetsova, Customer Success Manager Meet Evghenia Kuzentsova who recently joined Vortexa as a Customer Success Manager. Evghenia shares how she has found her first few months with us, what inspired her to join and of course gives you some great insights into Vortexa’s culture!
Q & A with Patty Chan, Senior Product Marketing Manager A Canadian, a Taiwanese, and a Hong Konger, Patty grew up on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver, Canada. In March 2020, she decided to take a leap of faith and moved to London, with hopes of frequently travelling across Europe. That did not happen much for the first 2 years of her move. But just being in London allowed her to see the world in a different way – that is to work with talented individuals from around the world. Before joining Vortexa, Patty worked in strategy and marketing roles across a variety of industries, such as fintech, healthcare, hospitality, and telecom, ranging from multinationals to start-up environments. Fun fact: Patty took the last flight out of Toronto before the UK officially closed its border due to the COVID pandemic back in March 2020.
A day in the life of… Artur Krochin, Senior Software Engineer Artur came to the UK in 2010 from Lithuania. He studied Mathematics at Warwick University, before coming back to London to start his career. Prior to joining Vortexa, Artur worked at Monzo. He was a backend engineer in the team that launched Monzo Flex, their buy-now-pay-later product. Before that, he led the revamp of the anti-money-laundering system at Revolut as a machine learning engineer. Fun fact: Artur is a massive music fan and is not only taking clarinet lessons but also teaching himself the piano and electric guitar. Artur also likes collecting various musical instruments whilst on his travels, and the last time he visited Bulgaria purchased a traditional kaval, the precursor to the modern flute – though he is still to learn how to play it.
Q & A with Luke Hawkins, Lead IT Engineer Luke has worked in IT for over 10 years, for a variety of companies but always with a soft spot for start-ups. He has had many incredible opportunities and experiences in his career that have allowed him to be where he is today; leading a core function within a thriving business. Fun fact: Luke studied for a BTEC in music production & performance before dropping out to co-found a successful start-up hosting video game servers. A day in the life of… Chiara Meola, EMEA Community Manager Chiara is the EMEA Community Manager at Vortexa. She has a passion for events and has almost six years of experience in the events and community industry. Prior to joining the company, Chiara worked at S&P Global Platts Fun fact: Chiara loves to travel and explore new places, her latest holiday was to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.
A day in the life of… Stephen Webb, Senior Software Engineer Stephen studied Computer Science at the Univeristy of York. Prior to joining Vortexa, Stephen started his career as a placement year student at Morgan Stanley during university, he then stayed for almost seven more years afterward before moving to Vortexa. Stephen has also been involved in volunteer teaching in the UK and Ghana, and enjoys mentoring junior team members. Outside of work Stephen is passionate about climbing and archery, and hanging out with his dog Harvey. Fun fact: ‘My family used to work a windmill in Kent for over a century. There’s a family tree carved inside, and I was the last child who got carved into it before it became a heritage centre.’

A day in the life of… Jill Peralta, Customer Support Engineer Jill is a Customer Support Engineer at Vortexa. She previously worked within Customer Support roles within the retail and SAAS industries. Prior to joining the company, Jill worked at a cloud-based procure-to-pay platform for the hospitality industry in Sydney, Australia. Her work mainly focused on onboarding clients on how to use the procure-to-pay platform and assisting with managing projects. Fun fact: 'My favourite comfort food is Sinigang, a sour and savoury soup from the Philippines. Sinigang is one of the nation’s most popular dishes.'
A day in the life of… Amir Kabiri, Product Manager Amir works as a Product Manager in the Product & Design team at Vortexa. Prior to joining the company, Amir set out on an exciting entrepreneurial journey at Antler Australia. However, due to the strict COVID-19 restrictions he realised that it wasn’t the best time to launch a startup there. Instead, he decided to continue his career as a product manager at Farakav. Amir has worked on different products from sports to e-commerce, from fashion to robotics but the energy industry has proven to be a whole new and exciting world for him. Fun fact: Despite the restrictions and challenges brought on by COVID-19, Amir took the opportunity to make big moves and migrated to a new country not once, but twice during the pandemic, from Iran to Australia and then to the UK!
A day in the life of… Cherly Fa, APAC Community Manager Cherly works as APAC Community Manager in the Marketing team at Vortexa. Prior to joining Vortexa, Cherly worked across a range of marketing roles in various industries, from Pharmaceutical to 3D printing to Real Estate. The roles covered social media, content and events. Fun fact: “My name is a spelling mistake. Guess the correct spelling!”
