I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Foursquare in Apr 2013
Interview
It was a phone interview without online coding.
The interviewer was nice. He asked two projects in my resume, one was Haoop Programming. Then he asked hashtable vs. hashap, malloc vs. new, process vs. thread, binary search. All kinds of concept questions. He also asked whether I knew Scala Programming Language.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Foursquare (Belgrade, Central Serbia)
Interview
Interview process is made of 4-5 steps
- Tech screening
- System Design
- Technical interview w/ Engineering Manager
- Introduction to other team members
Tech screening is a live coding session which usually lasts for an hour.
Other parts of the process are in a form of discussion with optional whiteboarding.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Foursquare in Oct 2023
Interview
The interview was nice yet it took 2 weeks to schedule one after the initial screening. I solved the coding task during the tech interview and followed up with HRs the next day. It’s been already two weeks since no one has responded. It is extremely frustrating process when no one of the hiring team is able to effectively communicate the hiring process.
I spoke with the recruiter through referral, then had technical interview over Google hangouts with the hiring manager. I was asked to walk through the code and provide an example input/output.
