Big 4 salaries come with big burnout risks. I'm currently at Deloitte, and I'm running on fumes. However, I'm too afraid to take a step back or take time off because I never know when layoffs will hit and I don't want to be seen as weak. So I keep pushing myself. How do you guys work yourself to the point of exhaustion and yet avoid burnout?
Do you think age (or perceived age) factors into promotions or raises? Curious about the typical age that people are promoted to principle, sr. manager, manager, etc, or does the vary by industry? I’m on the younger side but have a lot of work experience so wondering if age will hurt me in future promotions
Hearing rumors that the EY Honolulu office may be shutting down. Does anyone have insight into what that could mean for employees based there? Curious whether relocation would be required/covered, if people would move to remote alignment, or if layoffs are typically involved in situations like this.
Ever feel like unemployment almost sounds better when your job pays barely more than the benefits, except with 10x the stress? Makes you wonder what the easiest way to get fired would be. Burn through PTO? Stop caring?
When do we officially stop being young professionals? I've been thinking of myself as a young professional this whole time, but I'm 38. Can I still claim to be young?
