Is the CPA still worth getting?
What's your long term goal for your career? And for those become a partner, or a head of tax, what drives you to make it happen?
Do you consider a 7% raise good in today’s market?
How do you spend your bonuses if its north of 10k?
None of these people in private equity have their CPAs yet they are now controlling/owning CPA firms. Does anyone see a problem here?
My firm has us under a PTO freeze through September. Says the workload is too heavy and no PTO requests during this time will be honored. We can't even put in vacation requests until this freeze ends. How is this legal?
My income went from $105 to $300k in the last 6 years. You tell me.
No, we’re all being replaced by Ai and offshoring 😊
Depends upon the role you have. AI can't replace what I do.
100% yes
Not if you don't plan on making a career in public accounting. It was somewhat important when I was on the public side. Since leaving, it has never been brought up and my soft client relation skills have been far more valuable.
Yes
YES! I have never, ever regretted getting my CPA. It opens doors.
Yes. It opens doors to have the distinction, especially with hundreds or thousands of applicants on a given position. Many employers will also offer benefits to cover additional classes to qualify, prep course fees, exam fees, license fees, and CPE courses.
I have over 9 years of accounting experience like AR/AP, Collection, Month-End reportin, Financial Analysis, Account Reconciliatio, etc. and have used every major ERP system done really need to get a CPA if I want to get into more higher paying roles? I’m 33 btw and already have 55k in student loans for a useless psychology degree bc my counselor lied to me saying I only needed a Bachelors degree to get a job in that field only to learn I need a masters or PhD after the fact. Will a CMA work just as well. I really don’t want to have to go back to school and take out personal loans just in the hopes of getting a better paying job.
I doubled my salary the year I got my CPA.
The CPA is definitely worth it. If you can’t handle the tests, then the Certified Internal Auditor is a good second choice. I worked while studying for many years and the CPA allowed me to double my salary.
Not in Canada
It is worth it.... also ask your HR Dept, manager, and/or manager's manager if the company can pay for the classes, additional education, and/or tests. I was able to get my company to cover these costs and didn't even need to commit to staying with them afterwards.
I work for a Fortune 100 company that has been laying off people. The first ones to go in accounting were the ones who did not have their CPA. Those roles were offshored or AI now does the work. Not saying they wont come for me next, but so far having my CPA seems to be helping.
