Preferred: resolve by directly addressing issues, hearing points of view, explaining alternative resolutions and finding agreement. Focus on issues, not personalities and forward looking not backward looking (bygones be bygones). Not always possible, so alternatives are: collaborate/consensus (majority), negotiate compromise (middle ground), accomodating (give and take concessions), dictating or avoiding (last choice).
