I responded by clarifying that the job spec as advertised sought an array of agentic coding skills but their question was hyper focused on just one, and I use Codex. The HR interviewer responded by saying "this is just what the engineering team gave me" which demonstrated there was no flexibility / depth to the question, unlike the job spec. The job spec reads: “If you’ve experimented deeply with Cursor, Claude Code, GPT Codex based workflows or other coding agents - and realised engineering will never be the same - this role is for you.” It should really read: “You must use Claude Code.”
