I told them I would expect the top of the range provided in the job posting and they said that wasn't available for my city and the top of the range for my city (still HCOL) was $13,000 less than the top range listed in the job posting, I said that's fine considering total compensation and recruiter dove into equity details which was great and I said I was comfortable with that to move forward. Apparently this was the wrong conversation to have since she ended the call abruptly afterward.
