Vincent complains that the web development department are the most expensive staff so he's always trying to get someone cheap. If you are desperate for work this question may be the biggest deciding factor as they would rather get someone cheap and train them for six months versus paying double for someone that's job ready. If you REALLY want this job put a cheap salary. He's publicly bragged about how he's had developers as low as 40k/year in the office working. BUT if you want a more respectable wage for this skilled trade give a firm number because if you give a range they will always lowball you and do the bottom of that range minus 10% expecting you to counter offer. When you do in fact counter offer they'll meet in the middle and say you'll get the salary you asked for after your 6 month review.... if they ever give you one. Mine was always pushed back and never happened.
