Key responsibilities
Provide high level engineering advice and input into construction and maintenance projects.
Manage and co-ordinate contract performance and construction practices by ensuring that efficient procedures are implemented and best practice is achieved.
Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
Manage the operational aspects of project delivery to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model.
Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
Supervise and coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
Identify and manage networks and alliances of all stakeholders and manage the expectations and issues of all parties, including identifying possible political and high risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia.
Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.
A current Class 'C' Drivers License.
Construction Industry 'White Card'.
Requirements of the role
Applies project management principals and methodology to achieve project outcomes.
Has extensive experience in managing road construction projects including contract administration and representing a road authority on the project.
Inspires and enthuses others to achieve team and organisational goals and to enhance task performance.
Communicates effectively through oral communication, adapting to audience needs and responses and analyses audience and modifies written communication to suit needs and enhance desired outcomes.
Prioritises projects and tasks efficiently, in line with team commitments.
Builds rapport and establishes strong and mutually beneficial connections.
Evaluates possible solutions and takes appropriate steps to mitigate risks.
Analyses information to proactively identify risks to the teams' planned activities.
Desirable: Previous experience working with the Department of Transport and Main Roads will be highly regarded.
Desirable: Excellent knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Project will be highly regarded.
Desirable: Traffic Management Design (TMD) open qualification.
Desirable: Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP).
