About the role
As a Lead z/OS Administrator, you will make an impact by leading the administration, maintenance, and performance of enterprise mainframe environments. You will be a valued member of the Infrastructure & Cloud Operations team and work collaboratively with your manager, a team of mainframe engineers, and cross-functional technology stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
Lead and mentor a team of mainframe administrators while owning end-to-end z/OS system administration across IBM z/OS environments (v2.4 and v2.5)
Plan and execute z/OS version upgrades, LPAR builds, and the installation of patches, fixes, and ISV products using SMP/E
Maintain and optimize system parameters and parmlib configurations, including WLM, RMF, SMF, and zOSMF setup
Monitor and report on z/OS system performance, proactively identifying and resolving incidents related to z/OS issues
Manage relationships and products across key vendors including CA, BMC, and Compuware, ensuring effective installation and ongoing maintenance
What you need to have to be considered
Strong hands-on z/OS system administration experience, with demonstrated ability to lead a technical team
Deep expertise in IBM z/OS (v2.4 and v2.5), System z architecture, and Parallel Sysplex concepts
Strong proficiency with SMP/E for software installation and maintenance, including patches and ISV products
Proven experience with z/OS performance monitoring and reporting tools, including RMF and SMF
Solid working knowledge of WLM, zOSMF configuration, parmlib maintenance, and incident management on z/OS platforms
These will help you stand out
Experience managing a broad portfolio of vendor products across CA, BMC, and Compuware in a large enterprise environment
Familiarity with mainframe LPAR build processes and capacity planning
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical mainframe concepts for non-technical stakeholders
The minimum salary is $140K and the max salary is $175K.
